Tamera Maas

Senior at UNT http://www.unt.edu to graduate with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies through the College of Education with a focus on Mathematics 4 - 8 and ESL in May 2012. As a volunteer in my children's schools and classrooms, I gained an understanding of diversity and varying capabilities and strengths through helping many students. While substituting, I implement the teacher's lesson plans as specified while touring the room and helping students with questions. Keeping the students on task and being prepared to answer questions is key to helping the students improve their recall of the lesson. I practice relating assignments and discussions to something interesting to the students or that the students consider familiar to aid them in understanding and remembering the topic.
