Week 1: Contact sheet

These images were taken in week 1. I took them with my IPhone (IOS). The point was to take 4 different types of images. (Close up, wide angle, fast shutter speed, slow shutter speed). I think I took some good close ups and wide angles but the fast and slow shutter speed were a bit hard to take because I was using my IPhone and I can’t control everything. And I think this was the best image I took in week 1:

Before:

After: (black and white)

Metadata: Aperture: f/2.2 Shutter Speed: 1/125 ISO: 32 Image was taken at Lake Tuggeranong. I don’t know what it is exactly but it looks like a small light bulb or something else electric. I took the image with my IPhone (iOS) so it’s not perfect. Image is a close up shot which shows a shallow depth of field. I’ve edited the image into black and white because I didn’t like the colors in the normal image so it really looks better in black and white.

Week 2:

Contact sheet:

In week 2 I also took the images with my IPhone. The point was to take a series of fast shutter speed images. But I also took some random images. I haven’t controlled the shutter speed that day because I was using my IPhone. But it worked pretty well. In my opinion, this was the best image I took in week 2:

Before:

After:

Metadata: Aperture: f/2.2 Shutter speed: 1/2500 ISO: 32 Image was taken at Lake Tuggeranong of two pigeons flying over the lake with a great background of the lake and mountains and trees. The image was taken with my IPhone (IOS) which is not perfect for photographs so I edited the image to make it a bit brighter because it was a bit dark. The image was taken to show a great deep depth of field shot but it also got a fast shutter speed which is 1/2500 to freeze the moment when the pigeons were flying over the lake.

Week 3: Contact sheet:

In week 3, we went out to the lake to try some fast shutter speed shots (freeze the moment) of my classmates. I took the images with a SLR camera. Some of the images are dark because it was my first time using that camera and I couldn’t see the images very well because it was a really sunny day. And we also tried to take some images in the studio. And of course I also took some random images as well.

Before:

After:

Metadata: Aperture: f/8.0 Shutter Speed: 1/4000 ISO: 400 The image was taken at Lake Tuggeranong of my classmate jumping of a long stone threshold next to the lake. Image was taken on a very high shutter speed to present a great shot and stop my classmate while he is jumping. I’ve cropped the image because there was a non-important extra area which takes off the eyes of the target. And the image was dark and not taken perfectly so I changed the levels to make it brighter and better. The image shows a great background of the lake, trees and mountains‌etc. and the image shows the target in the middle of the image after editing and you can see his shadow on the floor. Image was taken in a great sunny bright day.

Week 4:

In week 4 I just took two images. A low key image and a high key image. I took the high key image in the studio at Lake Tuggeranong College and the low key image at my home. I took them with my IPhone (iOS).

Before:

After:

Metadata: Aperture: f/5.6 Shutter speed: 1/125 ISO: 100 The image was taken at Lake Tuggeranong College of a lock on a green door. Image is a close-up shot which shows a great shallow depth of field on the right of the image. Image has been shot from a great position to focus on the lock. You can still see a bit of the unfocused area.

Week 5: Contact Sheet

In week 5 I just took the SLR camera and went out to take random images. But I was really looking for a slow shutter speed (show the motion) image for the six of the best assignment. And I finally took it:

Before:

After:

Metadata: Aperture: f/5.6 Shutter speed: 1/125 ISO: 200 Image was taken at Lake Tuggeranong College of a magpie flying. Image was taken on a low shutter speed (1/125) to show the motion while the magpie is flying. I’ve cropped the image because there was extra area which is no need for it. And I’ve changed the original image into a black and white image because the magpie is black and white so I thought it would be a better image if the background was black and white as well. The motion is not shown so much, so you can see the magpies face and body but you can see the motion on its wings and legs. And you can see motion on the background as well because I was facing the magpie while it was flying.

Weekend week 5: Contact sheet

In the end of week 5 I decided to try some images of water and oil. So I brought a green bowl because it looks nice with some water and oil, and then fill it up with water, then I prepared the SLR camera, after that I started to drop in oil and take images immediately. After I did that I decided to make something different so I dropped in a small red flower and took some images. And I also went out to take some random images. The best image of the weekend is the water and oil with the flower, it is the image of the week for week 5, and here it is:

Metadata: Aperture: f/5.3 Shutter speed: 1/200 ISO: 140

Image was taken at my home. I took it with the SLR camera. The image contains a green bowl filled with water and oil and a small red flower in the middle of the image. And I tried to move the water and oil a bit to make a nice shape. The image is not edited at all because I think it doesn’t need any. It’s a very nice close up image with a great shallow depth of field. And it also got great colors.

Floriade: Contact sheet:

In week 8 I decided to grab the SLR camera and go to the Floriade to take some great images. It was a really great experience to shoot images there. I like to take images of flowers and children. So there I found a lot. But unfortunately I missed lots of great images because I wasn’t ready to shoot them. But I still got some great images. And I think the best image was:

Before:

After:

Metadata: Aperture: f/7.1 Shutter Speed: 1/250 ISO: 100 Image was taken at the Floriade with the SLR camera of a little kid on the Ferris wheel. Image is focusing on the kid and the rest of the image is blurry. I’ve cropped the image because there was an extra area in the image which takes the eyes off the kid and not important. And also I’ve edited the image into black and white.

Excursion: Contact sheet:

In week 9, we had an excursion to the national gallery of Australia and Megalo print studio + gallery in Kingston. So I took these images from different places. I took them with my IPhone (IOS). So they are not those great images. But they are alright. And I think the best image is:

Metadata: Aperture: f/2.2 Shutter speed: 1/950 ISO: 32

Image was taken at the national gallery of Australia with my IPhone (iOS). I am not sure what the image contains. But it looks like it’s a broken boat or something like that. I like this image because it looks a bit weird I think. The water looks like steam around it. The lighting is great, the sun is on the broken boat and the rest is dark. I haven’t edited the image because I think it’s perfect as it is.
