Tammie Hawkins - Knows How to Network Tammie Hawkins started an event planning business in Los Angeles over five years ago. As the owner of a small growing business, she knows the importance of networking to keep ahead of the competition. She graduated from UCLA in 1993 with a degree in communications as well as public relations. This degree taught her how to communicate well with others and how to interact with others in a professional manner, which is key to networking. With her education and experience, she could run a successful business just on by her own efforts. However, as a member of many networks including the Event Planners Association, she understands the benefits of networking in their business community.


The most obvious reason to network is that you might find a client. Other business owners generally make good customers and like to give referrals with the hope that you will do the same for them. Also, it means you are talking to other ambitious business owners who may have projects that you could get involved in. You also are letting other business owners who you are; other business owners want to know about their local business owners and what they are doing next. One of the best benefits of networking is that it is fun! If you are like Tammie and you are social, it can lead to friendships that could last a lifetime. You get to experience the comradery of a business community and mingling with like-minded people. Tammie Hawkins is the founder and CEO of Hawkins Events, LLC, a Special Events planning company based in Los Angeles.
