By Train - Please check the map for the nearest railway station. Disabled Access - Accessibility may be challenging for outdoor events due to the nature of the grounds. An exciting week of theatre showcasing the region’s talent. Both youth and adult groups show off their acting abilities in this popular One Act Play Festival. Three plays performed each evening followed by adjudication from a GoDA Adjudicator. The Festival provides groups with the opportunity to enter the celebrated All England Theatre Festival.

Tamworth Castle Grounds Our St. George's Day festival has become a massive highlight in the events calendar attracting visitors from all over the country and this year is set not to disappoint! Experience living history as you walk through the medieval encampment and witness live-action jousting in the arena. This year will also see the return of a 5-metre animatronic red dragon much loved a few years ago and a themed children’s zone. So get your swords and shields at the ready for an epic adventure in Tamworth Castle Grounds!

Featuring four fellow animals who all share a passion for music. The show includes storytelling, live music, mask work and puppetry.

Mercian Mosaic Saturday 14 July, 10am – 4pm

Tamworth Castle Grounds Communities unite to create one of Tamworth’s largest arts projects, Mercian Mosaic. Watch 1400 individual square yard tiles come together to make one large and intricate design laid out on the lower lawn for all to see. This event is part of a weekend of activities to mark the 1100 year anniversary of the death of our legendary figure Lady of the Mercian’s Aethelflaed.

Tamworth Voices Saturday 21 July, 1pm – 4pm Tamworth Castle Grounds Bandstand Bursting with colour and sound Tamworth Voices put a contemporary twist on their summertime repertoire. They will be performing a range of musical styles from pop to musicals.

Saturday night at the movies under the stars! The votes are in, and the winning films for this year’s event are Top Gun and Labyrinth. Bring your wing man ‘and let us take your breath away!’ for an evening of fantasy that you won’t forget. Picnics and blankets welcome. No glass or gazebos. No alcohol to be taken on site, a licensed bar will be available. This event is strictly for those aged 18 and over, ID will be requested.

Children’s Zone: £3 per child, adults free Tamworth Castle Grounds will come alive with a host of activities for children, grown-ups and four-legged friends too! This year’s event will see the return of the much loved dog show as well as community stalls organised by Tamworth Lions and a dedicated Children’s Zone. Also look out for a fantastic music making machine which will be appearing at this year’s event!

Space Rebel Princess Saturday 1 September 11am and 2pm Tamworth Library Tamworth invites you to complete the library’s summer reading challenge and celebrate with this fantastic show. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s Space Rebel Princess, flying through the skies to Tamworth Library. An interactive show for children aged 5-9 and their families. Mixing retro science fiction with fast-paced physical comedy, it tells the story of a princess raised for royalty but not for rocketry, who dreams of becoming an astronaut.

The refurbishment of Tamworth Assembly Rooms has now entered construction phase and we want to share the journey with you as well as the theatre’s history and future. Follow the Assembly Rooms Development Blog at www.tamworthartsandevents.co.uk/blog where we will be showing you behind the scenes as the development progresses. You can also see our touring exhibition as it makes its way across Tamworth communities. The touring exhibition will allow users to delve into the history of Tamworth Assembly Rooms; featuring a digital archive of past performances, old plans of the building and how it has changed throughout the years.
