THE ARTS IN 2022 Local restrictions relating to COVID-19 have naturally impacted Tanglin’s usual programme of Arts events but creativity is still thriving across the school. We hope that the events we have planned in this Term 3 Arts Calendar will be widely enjoyed by our community. While details are correct at the time of publication, they are subject to change due to the changing nature of the rules that relate to live performances and events. Deep End Film Production Work Experience Year 12-13 Date: 4-8 April Location: Tanglin Trust School ProjectorKorea’s largest content provider CJ ENM, the producer of Snowpiercer and Parasite, in partnership with Akanga Films (Hitman: Agent 47, Crazy Rich Asians, Westworld) will use Tanglin Trust School as a shooting location for their latest co-production, a five-part, bigbudget, international television drama, Deep End. To encourage and support our Creative Arts students, CJ ENM and Akanga have provided an amazing opportunity to gain work experience and learn about the film industry by shadowing technical crew, such as camera, sound, make-up and wardrobe, or by working in front of the camera as an extra. Shooting will take place during the term break in what promises to be an enriching and unique experience.
Senior Young Musician Finals Year 7-13 Date: 20 April Time: 7pm Location: Berrick Hall Our talented musicians from across the Senior School will compete to see who will be crowned Senior Young Musician 2022. The concert will include a special guest performance by Alexander Souptel, who will also sit on the judging panel together with Tanglin staff and students.
Gala Concert Year 5-13 Date: 23 April Time: 5pm Location: Victoria Concert Hall A special Gala Concert featuring Junior and Senior ensembles. The programme will include a diverse range of music performed by our choirs and instrumental groups.

Senior Ensembles Concert Year 7-12

Our Senior Ensembles will perform a wide variety of music. Ensembles will include Senior orchestras and choirs, Jazz and Big Bands, Guitar Group, percussion ensembles and a selection of Senior Bands.
After the success of Romeo and Juliet and Titus Andronicus, Tanglin continues the tour through Shakespeare’s tragedies with this production of the classic tale of Macbeth. Macbeth’s historical context is fascinating, written as a response to King James 1 taking the throne in England and his obsession with witchcraft. The themes of ambition, power and manipulation continue to resonate.
House Singing Competition Year 5-8 Date: 29 June Time: 6pm Location: Esplanade Concert Hall An inter-house singing competition featuring students in Year 5 to 8. Each of the eight houses will present a unison song, part song and solo. This event will be confirmed at the start of term 3, once the MTI have approved the concert application.

Our annual Summer Art Exhibition featuring coursework projects from the graduating Year 11 GCSE and Year 13 A level students.
Year 10 students are invited to create a twenty second stop-frame animation. All entries will score points for their respective Houses.
World Music House Competition Year 7 Date: Week 10 Year 7 classes have each prepared a whole class performance of a piece of World Music during the year. Their performances have been compiled into a video which will be released during Week 10. There will be prizes and House Points for the class with the best performance.
