THE LION'S DEN SEASAC: Tennis

Boys

Girls

The Tanglin Boys Tennis teams demonstrated perseverance and dedication throughout the weekend tournament. Despite enduring long days in the heat, the team handled the conditions admirably. Many matches were closely contested, and a few crucial points ultimately influenced the outcomes. It was gratifying to witness each of the boys securing at least one victory, and a stellar team effort in our final tie led to a triumphant 7th-place finish in the playoff game. With a relatively youthful team, we eagerly anticipate our continued participation in Division 1 of SEASAC Tennis next year. The boys possess the capability to strive for a higher position in the division, and we look forward to the challenges and successes that lie ahead.

The SEASAC Tennis competition, hosted by Mont’Kiara International School in Kuala Lumpur, offered an exceptional overseas experience for our tennis team, consisting of eight players spanning from Year 7 to 12. Over two and a half days of intense tennis in the sweltering Malaysian conditions, the girls showcased remarkable grit and determination. Despite some of the younger players lacking experience, they compensated with tenacity, treating every point as if it were their last and maneuvering swiftly across the court. Regrettably, the points didn't always swing in our favor, resulting in a respectable 7th-place finish. Nevertheless, the trip provided invaluable team bonding and unforgettable memories. It also served as an excellent opportunity for both singles and doubles players to gain knowledge and experience. The girls exhibited outstanding spirit, resilience, and sportsmanship, and they should take great pride in their performance.

THE LION'S DEN The International Schools' Climbing League (ISCL). The Tanglin Climbing Club recently attended the 4th round of the International Schools' Climbing League (ISCL) at UWC Dover, marking the penultimate event in the series. The ISCL involves schools competing in five events, culminating in the final round and gala dinner scheduled for March 17th. During this round, participants competed to complete as many top rope climbs as possible within an hour. This format demands both endurance and strategic thinking, as climbers need to navigate queues and manage fatigue effectively. Our top climbers successfully secured podium positions across various age groups and genders. As we approach the final round, our team holds promising prospects for overall podium finishes

THE LION'S DEN ACSIS Middle School Swimming The Merlions Swim Team showcased their skills at the MS ACISS Championships at UWC East last Thursday. Despite the absence of most of our U14 team due to school residential trips, this provided an opportunity for our younger competitive squad members to step up and represent the Merlions to the best of their ability. The results were impressive, with the Girls 11-12 division securing a 2nd place finish, and the significantly improved boys climbing two spots to claim 6th place. Congratulations to the entire team! A special acknowledgment goes to our standout Merlions – Ryan O (2 Gold, 1 Silver), Johanna VW (Gold, Silver), and Penelope B (Bronze) – for their medalwinning efforts. Additionally, kudos to the 11-12 Girls who excelled in both 4x50m Relays, replicating their victories from last year's Junior ACSIS meet. Well done to Camilla, Ela, Johanna, and Penelope!
