A Happy New Year! At the turn of the year, we would like to thank you for the pleasant cooperation and wish you a prosperous New Year. Oliver Tauffenbach Commercial Director and Associate On behalf of the management and staff

Stagnation means regression The Nissen Group has been known for decades for steady progress and outstanding inno vations. With the help of our teams that are well-established in all areas, we can always offer our customers the right solution for every challenge. As in the past, Nissen will also launch a product offensive through further and new developments in 2016, which you can look forward to. These developments offer us the opportunity, not only to score points with the known technologies in the fields of plastic products or LED and control technologies, but also to open up completely new markets and in doing so provide a fertile soil for further growth. We have also strengthened our position in sales, in order to meet this growth, and it is our pleasure to introduce our new employees in this Newsflash. We look forward to inform you soon about the future - in personal interviews on site or by phone, at trade fairs in Germany and abroad and through information material.

TMA / TTMA European Committee CEN TC226 WG1/TG4 – TTMA and TMA Saving lives is as a road safety company more than our aim – it’s a mission. Nissen produces more than 50 years outstanding equipment to protect road workers and road users. Since our traffic is getting busier and thus more dangerous we use more and more TMA (Truck Mounted Atten uator) and TTMA (Trailer Truck Mounted Attenua tor) on our roads. These live saving products are a real investment in safety. As a road safety expert I followed the process of creating a new European standard for those devices in the last years for our company. Everything started years ago in US with the development of a guideline for work zones. They created recommendations which road workers

should follow if they work on the road. The NCHRP 350 describes the use of a crash absorbing sys temto catch the crash energy during an accident. If we do so then we protect the driver who hits the work zone truck and even more important we protect the people who are working in front of the work zone truck. Later the NCHRP was slight ly adapted in the UK by creating the TD49/07, a more EU minded rule. In US they created the MASH in the meantime. As we felt that a real test method for EU countries was necessary we asked the permission to Europe CENTC226 to start a work item by creating a technical specification for TMA and TTMA. Working Group 1 and Task Group 4 took care of this task and created an EN1317 regulated test method. This test method will use

vehicles who are representative on the EU mar ket at speeds which are driven on our continent. After 5 years hard work, we are almost there and in a few months we will probably have our European test method. As road safety expert it is an honor to work in this group and create more safety. At Nissen we will now develop this market and it is our and my task to save lives on the road.

High-quality products require the same level of production processes. For this reason, we decided more than 20 years ago to put our quality management system to the test and got it certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001. Today we can proudly look back on the first certification in 1995 and 20 successful re-certifications / audits. Since we obviously feel very strongly about both, the environment and the health of our customers and employees, last year certification of our environmental management system according to DIN EN ISO 14001 was added to that.
