Birth of a pioneering idea: 95 years Nissen Elektrobau more than 50 years in service of traffic safety The company Adolf Nissen Elektrobau GmbH + Co, KG, founded in 1914, has its todays principal office in Tönning/Schleswig-Holstein. After successful years in the field of agricultural engineering the age of traffic warning equipment began in the mid-1950s with the development of a traffic warning lamp, the first corresponding Nissen patent application was made in 1956. Since that time Adolf Nissen Elektrobau built up a worldwide reputation by continuous development and new product development of high-quality and innovative products for traffic safety The company has become leading manufacturer in Europe with subsidiaries in France, United Kingdom, Poland, Switzerland and Italy. 4. The production in Tönning also covers the manufacturing of circuit boards in state-of-art SMD technique. This takes place in cooperation with the sheltered workshops for disabled people. For our long-term cooperation with these sheltered workshops we were awarded the integration award „The Mermaid“ in 2008. 5. The high quality level of the lamps, devices, trailers and LED variable message signs produced by us is guaranteed through extensive series of tests, inspection and control systems. No product leaves our house without final test according to ISO 9001.

Choose the right illumination for your purpose 1. Light colour – Halogen light (artificial light) is a warm light, turning a little yellowish, whereas HMI and HTI (daylight) are rather harsh white light. 2. Colour temperature – Colour temperature of halogen is 3200 K, HMI = 5600 K and HTI = 4000 K. 3. Light intensity – Light intensity (lumen) of halogen lamps is approx. 25 lumen per Watt, of HMI and HTI approx. 100 lumen per Watt.

5. Lifetime of light sources – An additional difference is the lifetime of the light sources. The halogen lamp 1000 W has a lifetime of approx. 300 hours; the HMI-lamp has a lifetime of approx. 750 hours and the HTI-lamp approx. 6000 hours. 6. Start after power failure – Light-Ball halogen allows a re-start immediately after power failure. A re-start of Light-Ball HTI can be achieved after approx. 3 to 10 minutes.

4. The ballast – Halogen lamps do not need a start ballast whereas all daylight lamps (HMI and HTI) require a start ballast. Light ball HMI has hot restrike and can be re-started immediately after power failure. In case of film shootings Light-Ball HMI is needed.
