Letter From Dave Good design should start from the floor up. The trends we have observed in flooring installation this year have made it clear that the construction interiors industry is experiencing a significant shift. There is now a greater emphasis placed on flooring as a component that significantly affects a space’s aesthetic as well as its performance. Flooring is the largest canvas in a space, which is why the selection process is so important. It is all too often settled upon at the end of the design, but commercial flooring can be a primary feature of a high-impact environment that can be significantly enhanced by the colors and textures of the furniture that sits upon it. Beyond the feel of the space, the type of flooring selected will directly impact the functionality of the space, from technology to acoustics.

Take a look into your briefcase, backpack, satchel, fanny pack and count how many devices and chargers you’re currently carrying. Our power demands have changed dramatically over the years and so have our workspaces. We work from cafe tables, lounge chairs and sofas— and we need power accessibility at each space. However, coring to add more outlets is invasive, expensive and time consuming. Tangram Flooring has been working with Steelcase’s new product, Thread™, to rethink the way we view power distribution. Thread™ allows you to distribute power in a number of customizable configurations with attachable stanchions for easy user access. Our team has successfully configured the product to be installed under not only carpet, but also LVT, tile, wood, broadloom + more without visible sign of the track or installation.

Moisture Mitigation

Tangram’s trained specialists are able to provide on-site, pre-installation slab moisture analysis, with documented records, for our commercial flooring customers. In an effort to provide timely service, as well as a durable end product, Tangram Flooring can offer complete moisture test results to comply with current standards for preparation and installation of any flooring material
as it pertains to moisture and slab related issues. Moisture remediation has become an especially vital issue in flooring contracts today. Because of the significant losses that can occur due to moisture issues, flooring manufacturers are now instituting stricter moisture specifications for their products.
To properly address these new standards, Tangram can prepare the substrate and then install a moisture control system. A system is usually installed in three days and can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in some cases.

His role is essential to leading tenant improvement projects within the Tangram Flooring division.
