1 Look at these different types of accommodation. Match them with the descriptions: Bed & Breakfast Guest Houses Serviced apartments Self catering Hostels Caravan and Camping Campus accommodation Accessible Accommodation

Which type of accommodation would you prefer? Why? 2 What can you remember about Edinburgh from Module 15? Talk to your partner and share your information. 3 You are going to look at different types of accommodation in Edinburgh. Type in: http://www.edinburgh.org. When the page appears, click on Find a Place to Stay on the left. Below More About … on the left, you will see a list of the different types of accommodation. 4 Look at the different types of accommodation and choose five that you would like to stay in. After you click on a type of accommodation, click on Search for … to take you to the accommodation. Write the types and the names of the accommodations in the table below, with a reason why you would like to stay there. Type of accommodation

Going places

Aim: For students to use the Internet to find information about different types of accommodation. This worksheet is designed to be done after the listening about Edinburgh on page 129. Time: 45 minutes Materials: Photocopies of the worksheets for each student. 1. Students match the types of accommodation with the descriptions. Students can check their answers with a partner and then with the rest of the group. Students then discuss which of the types of accommodation they would prefer to stay in and why. 2. Students discuss what they can remember about Edinburgh from the listening on page 29. Get feedback from the group. 3. Tell students that they are going to find out more information about places to stay in Edinburgh. Check that students have opened the correct page and make sure they have followed the instructions to find the list of types of accommodation in the More About… section on the left. 4. Students browse the different types of accommodation and choose five in which they would like to stay. After following the link to Search for… each type of accommodation, they can then choose one place to stay from each type of accommodation and complete the table, giving a reason why they would like to stay in each place. 5. When students have completed the table, they can compare their answers with their partners and decide who has chosen the best places to stay in.
