LA is famous for its theme parks like Universal City and Disneyland. But it is an important cultural centre as well, it has 80 theatres and nearly 300 museums and art galleries. The most important is the Getty Center which has one of the world's most expensive art collections. Los Angeles, on the United States west coast, is one of the most exciting cities in the world. With around 3.8 million inhabitants, it is the second biggest city in the United States.

Abraham Lincoln - an American hero
15 attitudes were changing in the north and many people wanted to free the black slaves. Abraham Lincoln became President of the United States in I860. He was opposed to slavery, immediately after his election, the Âťo Civil War between the northern and southern states started. It lasted four years and many people died. Lincoln was a great leader and he changed American history when he led the northern states to victory.
