EQUATORIAL ESCAPE Lose yourself amongst the tide pools. Have your senses heightened by the sea breeze. Absorb the life-giving light of the sun. Recognize your interconnectedness with nature. Equatorial Escape is allowing yourself to appreciate the delicate intricacies of nature in an increasingly hectic world.

COLORS

Tropical Peach ConchShell

The bright, life-signifying hues of the equator evoke the feelings of a seaside escape among the flora. Hues of Bleached Aqua and Paradise Green conjure the image of the warm and sun soaked shallows of the ocean just beyond the shore. Marlin Navy reminds of the depths of the sea, with neon brights of Orangeade and Lavandula referencing the lavishly colored residents of the deep.

Contrasts of Dark Green and Leather Brown take us into the untouched and ancient jungle, home to botanic blooms in colors of Conch Shell and Tropical Peach. Above, the life-giving sun is evoked with yellow Sundress, and Beige and Champagne refer to the shore that alternates between lives above and below with the tides.

Lush Lush is the decadent plant life that create shady pockets of cool even in the brightest points of the day. The floral blossoms and supple fruits that decorate the greens of the jungle. These details are what give nature such dimension and diversity.


Trend Influences Our natural wonders are depleting with time and it is time we highlight the ailing Mother Nature.

The natural world is a clear source for Amy’s work. She is fascinated by the flow of water, the shape of beehives, and the organic irregularity of plants, flowers, rock formations, barnacles, moss, and seaweed.

The Great Barrier Reef ’s coral are getting bleached and dying rapidly. Where last year’s bleaching was concentrated in the reefs northern third, the 2017 event spread further south, and was most intense in the middle section of the Great Barrier Reef.

Her pieces bring to mind aerial landscape views, satellite imagery, and biological cellular processes.

Equatorial Escape takes a deep dive in the Australian blues and spreads awareness of the vibrant corals and aquatic life.

Deforestation in the Amazon has been concerning many environmentalists since the past few years. Equatorial Escape tries to inspire designers to take a new approach at summer tropical mood. It gives you walk in the wilderness and spreads the word of conserving our lush forests.

Artist Courtney Mattison draws our attention by her hand-sculpts and intricately detailed ceramic sculptural works inspired by the fragile beauty of ocean ecosystems. “I believe art impacts our emotions and can move us to value the blue planet we live on in ways that scientific data often cannot.”
