CAIRO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NAMED A 2022 NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL

Cairo Elementary School was named a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School—being only one of five chosen in the state of Kentucky. The schools are recognized based on two categories—exemplary high-performing schools or exemplary achievement gap-closing schools. They traveled on November 4 to receive the award in Washington D.C. Schools recognized are honored by receiving a National Blue Ribbon flag to hang at their school as a symbol for their exemplary teaching and learning.

Brook Shappell, Cairo Elementary School Principal, said, “This recognition did not come easily. It took GRIT - that perseverance and never giving up! It took lots of hard work and determination and a commitment to giving our best to TEAM Cairo every, single day. It took ALL of us—every student, every staff member, and every Cairo family. I am so proud and grateful for each and every person who has contributed to TEAM Cairo earning this recognition!”
