First Day Jitter Jars

Going back to school in-person for the 2021-2022 school year is very exciting to our students who missed being in their classroom and with their teachers and friends last year. Regardless the age or grade, every parent and teacher wants their student to feel calm and confident going into their first day.
A great way to help students let go of their fears, anxiety and stress over the new school year is to write them all down and then let them go. Students can make jars to lock all their fears inside, leaving them behind as they step foot into the school building on that first day. This is also a great activity for teachers to do with their students, as they can drop those fears into the jar before their first day begins.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED: ›› Mason Jar (A plastic cup will work if you don’t have a jar to use) ›› Craft Materials - Students may decorate their jar based on their own liking and preference. ›› Paint ›› Paintbrush ›› Hot Glue Gun ›› Colored Poms ›› Popsicle Sticks ›› Colored Pipe Sticks ›› Stickers ›› Markers
The list could go on. Let students be creative! They will enjoy the opportunity to be crafty and locking those fears away to have the BEST first day! HF

2021 CoverKids Contest Winner
After receiving over 100 entries and nearly 2,500 votes, we have a winner for our 2021 Henderson Family CoverKids Contest.
Meet Remi Kate Staples! Remi Kate is the 5-year-old daughter of Cory and Chelsie Staples and little sister to her brother, Luke, and her sister, Liv. She also has two dogs, Bo and Ashes. Anyone who knows Remi Kate would say she is very outgoing, sweet, independent, sassy, funny and has a huge heart for her family and friends.
Remi Kate is a girl of many hobbies. She loves playing outside and jumping on her trampoline. She participates in dance at Fierce Studio with her sister, but she also loves going golfing with her dad and brother, playing soccer and tball and coloring.
You are sure to find her eating shell mac-n-cheese followed by strawberry ice cream for dessert. She loves anything pink! Currently, her favorite movie is “Raya and the Last Dragon” and her favorite animal is a giraffe.
Remi Kate has a heart for helping others and wants to be a police officer when she grows up.
If she could describe her best day ever, her mom said, “She would sleep in and then get up and get ready for the day. Her breakfast of choice would be Lucky Charms. After breakfast, she would play in her room and ride unicorns with her magic fairy wings. For lunch, she would have chicken noodle soup and then run out and jump in muddy puddles for the rest of the day!” "Remi Kate is a natural performer, which made my job so easy! I don't think I've ever had a kid in the studio with so much personality. I see why she won our CoverKids Contest!"
