First Day Jitter Jars Written by Lyndi Mauk // Photo by Jamie Alexander
Going back to school in-person for the 2021-2022 school year is very exciting to our students who missed being in their classroom and with their teachers and friends last year. Regardless the age or grade, every parent and teacher wants their student to feel calm and confident going into their first day. A great way to help students let go of their fears, anxiety and stress over the new school year is to write them all down and then let them go. Students can make jars to lock all their fears inside, leaving them behind as they step foot into the school building on that first day. This is also a great activity for teachers to do with their students, as they can drop those fears into the jar before their first day begins.
