Bazingabox.com
Educational Activity Boxes for kids aged 4-8 year old Bazinga Box is a activity kit for 4-8 years old children, with a set of brain-stimulating activities. Every month a new theme is designed, researched upon and tested, with an agenda of fun and learning at home. These activities include various experiments, stories, games, puzzles, art and craft. I, as a Lead Product Designer in this Company take care of the design and testing of the activities which are based on themes chosen by an education specialist. Then work on the material sourcing and development of the kits with all the instructions and content needed for the theme. I have designed and curated upto 10 boxes, with themes such as Gardens, Dinosaurs, Pirates, Light & Sound, Time, Magic, Stone Age, Winter etc.
‘All About Me’ Theme 1- June 2015
This box explores the various elements of a human body. 1. Soapy Senses– A soap-making activity to explore various senses by exploring the type of colour, smell and shape they want their soap to have. 2. Sparkling Smile– A board game created for children to understand dental hygiene, where they have to maintain their teeth quality to win the game. 3. Layer me up!– A three-layered body puzzle where kids get to explore the Internal and the External systems of a human body. 4. Make a Wish– A birthday cake craft, where the kids put together a cake penny bank.
‘Caveman Chronicles’ Theme 8- February 2016
This theme is based on the ‘Stone Age’ and the activities explore methods that might have been used during the early man time period. 1. Wee-Wheelie– Exploring the wheel as one of the early inventions of the stone age by letting kids make their own wheel toy. 2. Caveman Art– Kids use various materials to make their own paint-brushes and natural paints. 3. Stony Stories– A storytelling activity in which the kids create stories using early civilisation symbols. 4. Yaba-Daba-Doo!– A set of outdoor games inspired by an Indian street game, called ‘Lagori’ where kids stack up wood tiles and aim to drop them team after team.

Tupper-Baby Tableware Design for Children
After thorough understanding and research for Tupperware’s requirement, I designed mealtime tools that would enhance a child’s experience while eating food and enable them to tell stories and play games. The aim was also to introduce entertainment, to avoid TV time during meals. The target audience involved Indian urban millennial parents and their children. Following opportunity spaces were considered during the design phase: 1. Parents want to make sure that children are served the right amount of nutrition during meals. 2. Parents wish to strike a balance between feeding and engaging the child. To view the project booklet, visit the link below: https://issuu.com/tanushreeag/docs/documentation
‘Yummy Tales’ Concept 1
Enabling children to construct stories and get involved in fun activities during meals, was the purpose of this design. The intent was to make meal times interactive by providing the children with hidden visual cues which would appear only if the food was eaten. With this concept, I wished to find a replacement for watching Television during meals. The artwork and the form of the table set was explored accordingly and created while considering ergonomics for children. The table mats were designed as a trigger, to help the kids beginFRUITS their GRAINS/FLOUR table-time activity.
‘Bite Right’ Concept 2
MILK/ JUICE SNACKS
Using re-arrangable shapes of various sizes as table sets for portion monitoring. The portion sizes were defined for Indian food after consulting a nutritionist and the shapes were sized accordingly. For convenience of parents and children, the individual pieces can be fixed together with a sliding mechanism on the walls of each dish. The idea came about as I noticed the millennial parents struggling with the quantities of food they needed to serve their children, while also worrying about their nutritional requirements.

‘Suno’
BRAILLE TEXT
Design for Visually Challenged
‘Suno’ is an interactive teaching tool for visually impaired children, which allows them to understand an object in terms of its sound and helps heighten their hearing sense to be able to stay informed and aware in a surrounding. I created four prototype sets for classroom, traffic and bathroom sounds.
kitchen,
The product could be universally used by all kids. It becomes a great tool for learning sounds that are usually go unnoticed. The puzzle form of the game helps build cognitive, sensory and fine motor skills. To see a demo of the toy, please visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7QIawzeT08

Perception
Height Measuring Device for Visually Challenged A short project, taken up during a class based on ‘Perception’. The task was to design any product for visually challenged people. I with two other teammates, chose to design a height-measuring device for blind children. The reason being that we saw value in allowing them to be able to know about their physical aspects such as height, weight etc. just like all other children. We also gamified the product by letting a marble drop through a column of tin plates, which are arranged at 1inch distance. A child has to count the number of times he hears the marble hit the metal to know his height in inches.
2011 | Artist’s Book | Product Design | Bhuj Earthquake 2001
‘Filling the Cracks’ Interactive Artist’s Book
An artist's book on the theme of disaster, where I chose to illustrate the happenings of the Bhuj earthquake in India that took place in 2001. It is an interactive book for children and adults , which is in the form of a puzzle. The concept was to make the visual look like a top view of a destroyed city, where one needs to assemble the broken pieces into one image. Each puzzle piece can be opened like a booklet and it contains factual information about the earthquake, illustrated through stories, pop-ups and pull-outs.
2014 | Game Design | Play | Age: 7+ | 3-6 players
‘Plan of Action’ Board Game Design
A game design in which the children immerse themselves in exciting real world situations, filled with goals and objects of everyday life. With good planning, sacrificing, gaining and negotiating, you can be the one with the best plan of action. Over the span of three levels, with the help of food tokens (replacement for a dice), you need to acquire certain objects from all the levels to be able to achieve the ambition chosen in the beginning. The board is designed with a changeable layout. Every time one plays the game, the board can be assembled in a different way for new game play.
2014 | Product Design | Traditional Craft | Terracotta Clay | Lemon Juicer | Breeze Coolers
Beyond Pottery
Re-Imagining the use of Terracotta clay products A project in which I explored the functional uses of terracotta products beyond the already existing creations by the potters. Terracotta is a great natural and sustainable material, and its porosity allows it to retain temperatures, and also provides with a lot of health benefits. PRODUCT 1: Using terracotta oil lamps and lids along with some further reformed details, I created a lemon/orange squeezer for the kitchen. PRODUCT 2: I used the waste and broken pieces of terracotta along with cloth to create ‘Airtains’. The product if sprayed with water, retains the water for long time and keeps the breeze entering a room cool during hot weather.

‘Rolla’
A multi-purpose furniture piece An interactive and multi-tasking product- Rolla is a fun, comfortable and easy to handle furniture that acts as a seating, a low table or even a storage box. It is sleek and designed to fit in a modern home. Originally designed for children, Rolla can be easily moved from one place to another and evades the idea of picking up heavy furniture. It makes for a great indoor play toy for children, but can also be used by people of all age groups. I wish to use a similar concept to further broaden the range of furniture pieces that can be made with similar mechanisms, for the ease of children.

‘Shuttle’
Bottle Design based on a personality
In this project task, we designed a bottle based on a person's character. The attributes that I came across after analysing a fellow classmate included traits such as experimental, broad-minded, sporty and swift. My creation was 'SHUTTLE'– a sleek and smart sports water bottle. It has unusual features and does not stand like any other bottle, rather it is sporty and can be thrown or rolled around. The name ‘SHUTTLE’ is placed on the bottle in a quirky way. Once the cap is removed, the word ‘SHUT’ remains on the bottle.

Jewellery and Metals
Using found objects to create contemporary art pieces
A project I took up during an exchange programme at Penny Stamps, UMICH. The aim was to understand the meaning of found objects when contained and transformed into contemporary jewellery. I explored various techniques of treating metal (Brass, Copper and Silver) such as Soldering, Etching, Hammering, Riveting, Polishing, Stamping and Finishing. First, I created a broach which was based on a ‘day in my life’ . I used Indian currency to create this piece as it was the focus of that disastrous day. Second, I created a set of three pendants on the theme of ‘Fears and Phobias’. I took up the challenge of making these phobias, look aesthetically pleasing and decorative.

Geriatric Healthcare
Exploratory Studio to enhance healthcare at home for seniors A research-based project where the aim was to develop a range of concepts to enhance home-based geriatric healthcare services. It included identifying the problem and opportunity areas for innovating value-based services along with a range of ideas for possible solutions. I worked on this project with two team mates, and we followed a design process which included three core phases– Immersion phase, Synthesis Phase and Exploration Phase. I got acquainted to some innovative research methods such as Video Brainstorming, Mind-Map Interviews and Scenario based research, through the course of this project. Waste Management
IDEATION
Campaign about Waste Segregation
The aim of the project was to create visual artworkto educate the local community about the importance of waste segregation. We also wanted to make the citizens aware about the locations of the dry waste centres for easy access. Our initial research showed us that using pictures of god/goddesses, restricted the people to throw garbage in those areas. With that we created a lady god-like figure, using it as a metaphor to the women in the households showing the rights and the wrongs about waste segregation. We were a team of 21 students and faculty, who designed the mural in collaboration with Kartavya Dry Waste Collection Centres-BBMP (Bangalore).

2013 | Mobile App | UI/UX | Interaction Design | Research + Concept | Team Project
‘Noteworthy’
Money managing app for Students An app designed for iOs by me and four other teammates for a short course on UI/UX design. This app called 'NOTEWORTHY' focuses on solving financial issues for college students, by helping them manage expenses with some fun and engagement. The ‘Problem Statement’ we defined was: “How might we support students manage their budget, by facilitating the integration of value for money in their daily lives.” The whole process involved designing the app; from the problem finding stage to visually designing the flow of the app.
2011 | Research Assistant | Gastronomy Explorations | Seed Re-using Experiment
Planetary Sculpture Supper Club Research with The Centre for Genomic Gastronomy
The Centre for Genomic Gastronomy is a research club that explores and examines the biodiversity of human food systems, and then presents the research in the form of lectures, meals or exhibitions. I with seven other fellows, helped them research on a few food controversies and ideas that they wished to explore in India. Two topics that I helped with included, looking at ways to re-use seeds and make them plant-able after extracting them from vegetables. And second topic – ‘Smog Tasting’ included mapping the air quality by harvesting it from polluted areas, in the form of egg foam since it contains 90% air.

Interactive Business Card Self Initiated Project
Being a person who enjoys looking beyond just the form an object and desires to incorporate an interactive and fun element in all work, I designed these visiting cards that would trigger people's curiosity and bring out the child in them. It is not just a visiting card, but ‘There's more to it’, as the quote on the card suggests. The design includes a series of four different animals that stand upright on a table or can be flattened and kept inside a wallet.
2011 | Outdoor Project | Construction | Mud and Bamboo Building | Sustainable
Natural Building Design with Natural Materials
A month-long project in which I along with seven other team mates, took up to using sustainable natural materials for creating structures, under the guidance of Jackson Porretta, a natural builder and founder of ‘Green Chakra’ Program. We travelled to the hills of western Karnataka where we worked and learned from the ‘Chakra’ apprentices and executed group projects including Mud Building, Bamboo Craft and Construction of walls and arches. A great outdoor project which gave us a first-hand experience and exposed us to the idea of sustainable construction.
2011 | Packaging Design | Mockery | Indian TV Stereotypes | De-constructing Beauty
‘TRP’ Cosmetics
Packaging designed as a mockery to Indian soap operas
Through this project, I wished to highlight the overly dramatic and pretentious stereotypes that TV serials in India, create in the minds of people who religiously follow the series. These soaps have been known to form clichéd images of beauty and portray it to define the personality of a person. I created a cosmetic product line based on some characters from popular soap operas and commented on how exaggerated makeup is used to highlight their traits. The beauty line was named 'TRP' as it is the criteria that defines the popularity of any Television serial. For the audience to be able to understand the sarcasm, I used satirical language for the description of the products.
2013 | Art Prints | Lithography | Relief Print | Wood Block Carving
Printmaking
Expressing ideas through art prints
These artworks were created using printmaking techniques such as Relief Printing and Lithography for a course I took in Print media. Through Relief prints, I explored the idea of freedom and created a set of artwork namely, ‘Let Go!’. With Lithography, I explored the theme of ‘Macro’ and created abstract close-ups of plant life under water.

Miniature Diorama Depicting fear of Amusement Parks
A miniature diorama exploring the juxtaposing effect of an amusement park. As a kid, I used to read a lot of stories about haunted amusement parks which ended up developing a fear in me. Even though I tried to disengage from this fear but it never left my subconscious mind. On the other hand, amusement parks are created for the fun and excitement that they offer to people of all age groups. These contrasting views inspired me to create a miniature Diorama portraying the two sides. The left side is lit up and is lively with a little girl while the right side is dark and dingy, where a scary clown stands in the front.

‘Avez-Vous Faim?’ A visual cookbook describing myself
A project on ‘Critical Thinking’ where we had to analyse ourselves and present it in the form of a group of recipes in a cookbook. Every dish describes a trait of me and the methods of how to cook that dish have been illustrated and made interactive.

2012 | 2D Animation | After Effects | Modernised Mythology | Scripting + Storyboarding
‘Holy Housewives’
A short animation based on a mythological story
A short animation created by me and a fellow classmate. Since we both were very fond of reading mythology, we decided to pick a story from Lord Shiva’s life and place it in a modernised situation. In this story, the three incarnations of Lord Shiva’s wives are getting their parlour treatments done and gossiping about their sad marital lives, without knowing that they all are married to the same man, Lord Shiva. After some factual research, we created a script and storyboards and then used Adobe AfterEffects to animate the characters designed.
