COX ARCHITECTURE
Melbourne Square is a mixed-use development located in Southbank, Melbourne. The primary objective of this project is to address the lack of green public open spaces and community amenities in the area.
The Master Plan for Melbourne Square encompasses six towers, comprising four residential towers, one hotel tower, and one commercial tower. The development is structured into four stages.
Following the completion of the master plan in 2015, Stage 01 works in 2021 and the originally endorsed Stage 02 design in December 2019,
the client decided to split the Stage 02 design into 2 stages and revise the residential tower to increase the efficiency and decrease the building cost in 2022.
The revised Melbourne Square Stage 2 consists of two towers:
The Residential tower (Stage 2A, Under construction) accommodates:
• 620 apartments
• Amenity facilities
• Ground floor retail
• 234 carpark and 320 bike parks (podium above ground)
The design concept for Tower 06 establishes a unique identity for the tower within the Melbourne Square precinct.
The Tower 06 design embodies the typological evolution of the towers on site. From the slender glazed towers of Stage 01 towards a more textured tower expressing a finer grained facade punctuated with strong three-dimensional vertical and horizontal banding, and prominent green zones referencing the popular Melbourne Square park.
The Residential tower (Stage 2B, Design Development/Documents) accommodates:
• 620 apartments
• Multiple Amenity Facilities Floors
• Ground floor retails
• 211 carpark and 200 bike parks (podium above ground)
The vision for the New Footscray Hospital is to create a hospital in and of its community - a Facility, environment, and place that people are comfortable using and visiting. The hospital has been designed as a campus-style precinct, drawing the community into a permeable precinct, achieving an indiscernible connection between hospital and community.
The New Footscray Hospital is a joint venture between COX Architecture and Billard Leece Partnership (BLP)
The Sphere in Austin Duta, Johor Bahru, is a study in contemporary minimalism, where architecture and movement intersect seamlessly.

Columbarium of City Memories
UNRULY EDGES: MUSEUM OF THE PERTH’S URBAN MEMORY
Drawing of the Year 2024 (DOTY) Commended for Visualisation Award
A modernist development ethos dictates a bold pattern of growth, favoring the new over the old without fear of losing value or significance. While city development has caused the destruction of the urban fabric, the witness to historical events, carrying the collective memories of urban dwellers, is being demolished.
The architecture includes a mega framework intended to act as a “Columbarium” for the city, collecting and containing these memories within.
PERTH, AUSTRALIA
This architecture acts as a connector, allowing memory fragments to render themselves as a palimpsest that connects the past, present, and future. The progressive filling process also illustrates the growth of the city.
Paradox of a City’s Growth
‘IN THE CITY’S GROWTH, A PARADOX UNFOLDS, IMPRESSIVE GRANDEUR, YET A MELANCHOLY BEHOLD.’
The portfolio consists of both conceptual and real works from 2018 to 2025.
