My idea of this project was to create a curvil i n e a r w a l l w i t h fi x e d module unit in dimension. The individual module will move its position in X & Y and will create a undulating surface. I consider the material of the module made of brick and tube.

Project Brief:

The objective was to design a shop of an area of 2,000 sft with clothes, kids’ items and toys on display. The distinctive feature is the undulating ceiling that runs centrally which gives a dynamic and vibrant expression to the whole space. This project is now listed in the ‘Architectural Projects’ page of Grasshopper Site.

WORKING PHASE

PROJECT BRIEFING

The first workshop was conducted at American International UniversityBangladesh (AIUB) in summer 2011 under my theory course ‘Construction Methods & Details’ for hands on experience regarding digital fabrication. Here the form generation was digital, but the fabrication was manual.

ASSEMBLING

Students are spontaneously joined to this model making workshop. They got an idea about how ‘Scripting Based Forms’ are generated and instantly found a precious shape for assembling without making any working drawing.

TOOLS FABRICATION MODEL

Material of this project was thick paper (Swiss board) and the cutting tool was scissor. Here students explored the waffle structural system.

Here the built and open space ratio is 40-60%. Two parallel roads touch the site in shorter edge, where people can come from both side of this space or pass through the site or can sit in the landscape for relaxation. The program includes two galleries, multipurpose hall, library and a lounge for the people. The gallery will not only serve as an exhibition space, it will also be a learning place for children in t h e w e e k e n d . >> The space for art gallery seeks to create a dialogue beteen the establish and the experimental, the past and present, in an environment that is responsive to the issues of modern and contemporary art, while being accessible to a public that ranges from scholars to young. The ultimate puepose of the gallery is to understand the philosop h y o f t h e a r t i s t t h r o u g h t h e s p a c e i t s e l f .
