BEST CHOICE FOR FARM & ENVIRONMENT
BALE WRAP - HORSEWRAP™ Healthy for the horse Ensiling maintains important nutrition value that the horses can get all year around, and that is to compare with grass. Silage is also more hygienic than hay as hay feeding is often dusty. Dust can cause respiration problems both for the person who does the feeding and the horse. There are higher demands for horse silage/haylage than for beef cattle. The DM (dry matter) should be dryer, between 50-65 %. Therefore HorseWrap™ has higher puncture and tear strength. In addition haylage for horses is often traded over large distances due to horse owners who often do not own their own farms, this means that the bale is put through more handling and the risk of damage to puncture the bales increases.

TIPS FOR MAKING THE BEST POSSIBLE BALED SILAGE
A.
• Cut at the optimum growth stage Refer Diagram a. Crops harvested in the early stage will have the best balance between energy and protein and have high nutritional value.
• Cutting during dry sunny conditions provides the best start to the ensiling process
• Rain is the greatest threat to nutrient rich forage during the harvest. If you are forced to bale in the rain, some nutrient losses can be offset by the use of additives
• Cut the crop at a minimum height of 8 – 10 mm. This will help to avoid contamination and consequential losses through unwanted bacteria
B. • Where possible, cut the highest quality fodder possible because if you put poor quality in, you will get lower feed value out and yet still incur the cost of ensiling
• For silage the ideal Dry Matter (DM) content is 40 to 50%. For haylage it is 60%
C.
• Pre – wilting is beneficial to obtain the ideal DM content in the shortest time frame. Wide spreading of the fodder and turning will advance drying.
• Raking is very important to achieve even density in the bale. If the bale is 1.2mts it will have a straight profile and even density if the swath is 1.3 – 1.4mts wide . Refer diagrams b & c. Well shaped denser bales enable better wrapping and less damage when handling and stacking, therefore minimising losses
Visit plasback.co.nz to find out how you can recycle your used fodder packaging products.
BALEWRAP APPLICATION TIPS TO ACHIEVE THE BEST POSSIBLE SEAL & MINIMISE LOSSES D.
• Always choose a high quality branded wrap manufactured using the latest technology
• Always read film and wrapper instructions before use
• When the bale is on the wrapper make sure the centre of the bale is centred to the roll of wrap on the dispenser. Refer diagram d
E.
• Check you film application stretch percentage by making two marks on the film 10cm apart prior to stretching, then slowly commence wrapping and locate these marks on the film on the bale surface and measure the distance between each mark. If you are stretching to 70% the measurement should be 17cm between the marks. Refer diagram e.
• Check the neck down on the film applied to the bale. For round bales using 750mm wide wrap, this should be 580mm to 630mm. Refer diagram f. For square bale wrapping this should be 560mm to 630mm.
F.
• Always apply a minimum of four layers of wrap (better six layers) to all areas of the bale for bales of up to 40% DM. For bales of 40% + DM, all square bales and bales of coarse fodder, always use a minimum of six layers to all areas of the bale
• Check the wrap overlap on the bale is minimum 50%. Refer diagram g
G.
• Wrap at stacking area if possible, if not, move bales from the paddock as soon as possible
• Be aware, all balewrap allows more oxygen to pass through it as the surface temperature on the bale rises. At 50 0C balewrap will allow six times more oxygen through than at 15 0C. Dark colours heat up faster especially black wrap.
BALE MOVEMENT AND HANDLING TIPS TO MINIMISE LOSSES • Never use a spike to stack or move bales and repair any damage to the wrap immediately • Protect bales from birds and vermin to avoid damage to the wrap • Bales should always be stacked on their ends to maximise the seal of the wrap and avoid oxygen penetration.

NET REPLACEMENT FILM - TRIOBALECOMPRESSOR™
TRIOBALECOMPRESSOR™ TrioBaleCompressor™ with its unique blend of raw materials can be stretched to an optimium level on round bales. This helps to maintain the bale shape during the storage period resulting in a better silage with a higher density maintained. This will give more kg DM/m³ and improves handling of the bales
YIELD BALES PER ROLL:
TrioBaleCompressor™ must be pre- stretched on the bale, we recommend 3.5-4 rounds per bale from start rope to finish rope, regardless of conditions. The film can handle tougher control box (if necessary) after the change of conditions.
When baling you will achieve the optimum number of bales if you follow our recommendations of 3.5 - 4 rounds/bale during average conditions with 25-35% film stretch.
Tests have proven that the bale diameter has decreased by 5 cm in comparison with net. The film covers the edges or goes down over them depending on bailing condition. The shape of the swaths are important to give even density in the bales.

TWINE - PIIPPO® BIG SQUARE More meters - more bales - lower costs. Contractors from New Zealand to Finland have been using Piippo Twine for four decades. High and constant knot strength enables tighter bales and lower transport costs. Thanks to Piippo´s special firm film technology, Piippo twines offer 10 – 20 % longer runnage per kilo with the same specified breaking strength, compared to the competitors. A soft twine and tight tolerances are both evidence of high quality. Baler knotters live longer, thanks to a soft type of twine. Firm strength and stable thickness of the twine contribute to uninterrupted and efficient baling in the field. Piippo twines offer a guaranteed runnage per metre and per pack. This means, for example, that Piippo Big Square Baler Twine runs exactly 130m/kg, whereas the commonly sold “Type 130” twines may run anything between 100 m/kg and 130 m/kg. From our large twine selection, you will find the right twine for all type of balers and conditions.

ECO COVER Ecocovers have been used on New Zealand farms for almost 20 years. Developed with a non-intrusive colour in mind, Ecocover has all the benefits of the Agtuf cover yet is not unfavourable on the eye. The mechanical properties of Ecocover mean that the covers have great strength and puncture resistance. Green side faces up to reduce heat build up in the stack and blend into the enviroment. Black side faces down, blocking light transmission, eliminating fungal growth and harmful secondary fermentation. Colour blends into the enviroment 1 year warranty against UV degradation Proven in New Zealand conditons PRODUCT /BRAND

SILAGE COVERS - O2 BARRIER FILM
Polydress™ O² Barrier Film is a newly developed 2 in 1 Silage Cover which combines the traditional Black/White Silage Cover with a polyamide underlay film. This underlay film delaminates from the outer cover through Silage moisture and adheres to the stack surface creating a vacuum effect. The result is a one-step application process which deliveries an oxygen barrier improved by a factor of 6 to 10 times of a traditional cover. Due to the improved oxygen barrier, reduced fermentation losses, and minimal mould formation, high-quality crop can be preserved in an exceptional and sustained manner.

SILAGE COVER - COMBI SILAGE & UNDERLAY Installation on the clamp becomes faster, easier and safer The strong metallocene black/white silage film (dart test 1000 gr) is made of 100% virgin raw materials for maximum protection from mechanical puncture, tear and UV. Its upper side is white (to prevent overheating forage) or green (better fit to the environment). The other side is black, to ensure complete opacity that is necessary for best fermentation. The underlay film is made of 100% LLDPE thus having the elasticity to fit perfectly on the forage and prevent the creation of air pockets between forage and the film. It helps to achieve the best conditions for anaerobic fermentation and reduces spoilage of the forage by oxygen.

UNDERLAY SHEET - CLINGSEAL Agpac also offer the two step Silage Cover using Clingseal, a new generation film which sits directly beneath the traditional Silage Cover. Thin and flexible, Clingseal film is specially designed to closely follow and cling to the surface of the stack where it prevents pockets of trapped air to significantly reduce aerobic spoilage on the top and shoulders of the stack.
IDEAL FOR MOIST CROPS WITH A GREATER POTENTIAL FOR SPOILAGE. Reduces air pockets to enhance effectiveness of conventional sheeting Reduces top and shoulder losses in the clamp Facilitates faster, more efficient fermentation 100% recyclable

PLASBACK® - TUFF RANGE R
RECYCLING SOLUTIONS FOR FARMERS
A significant volume of plastic is used on New Zealand farms each year. Silage film, mulch film, grain bags, bunker liners & covers, feed, seed & fertiliser bags, bulk bags, baling twine, bale net, vine covers, pallet wrap, drums, irrigation pipes, packaging ... the list is seemingly endless. Modern farming would be impossible without these plastics, but they leave an unwanted legacy. Very little of this plastic is recycled. Most of it is burnt, buried or accumulates on farm - becoming litter, blowing across the countryside, clogging the waterways, being ingested by stock and wildlife. But a solution is at hand. Farmers who care, can recycle their silage wrap, pit covers and baling twine through PLASBACK® a goverment accredited program under the Waste Minimisation Acts 2008. Plasback® is simple, low cost, convenient and the plastic collected is turned into useful products again. Visit: plasback.co.nz for more info
THE BIN AND LINER SYSTEM Designed to reduce the excessive levels of plastic contamination Improves the collection logistics on farm Keeps farms tidy and reduces pollution Reduces foreign objects in the waste stream Multiple waste streams collected from the farm including: Silage Wrap, Pitcovers, PP bags, HDPE Drums & 100/200 Litre Drums Accredited by the Minster for the Enviroment under the Waste Minimsation Act 2008 on 4th May 2010
