President’s Message

It seems I’m always writing these at the last minute while Chuck is putting the newsletter to bed and waiting for me. Sorry my friend.

Work is progressing on the revitalization of our website and Chuck and Jade are heavily involved in making it a better tool for our members

Our March meeting as you know was dedicated to our annual Salon Competition and I’m sure the results will be a part of this missive so I will just congratulate everyone who chose to participate and say a special thanks to those who worked so hard behind the scenes. Looking at you Lee, Rob, Bill, Bob. It would never have come off so well without all of you. We had some technical glitches but overall I am pleased with both the turnout as well as the quality of the images entered. A special thanks to our judges Gigi, Tony, and Robin for their dedication and hard work.

Bob is hard at work filling out our speaker schedule and has secured the hugely talented Tim Kelly as our July speaker. Watch the website and newsletter for a description and samples coming soon. That it til next month everyone and remember if there is anything that can be done to improve your TAPPA experience near hesitate to reach out to me. Win Wolloff TAPPA President

Three new directors were added to our board and they are already hard at work planning some new adventures for our members. With the expanded board we can plan some get togethers that I, for one, have missed during the pandemic. Keep a eye out here for developments. I recently had a conversation with Pierre Duterte, the education director at FMoPA, and he asked me to put together a slide presentation from my many trips to Zoo Tampa. I took each new class at the Academy of Design to that Target Rich Environment for several years, and we are looking at a May launch of a lecture series on animal photography. Again stay tuned for more info as I get it. TAPPA Tribune

She also runs Myra Thiessen Photography along with commissioned oil paintings. Myra has finessed the ability to combine the two concepts. The beauty of oil painting, with all the zest of real life photography. Her personal theory for photography is “it is the only medium that stops time, from the moment that the shutter is pressed and the image is captured; the image will never be repeated again with all the elements that are happening at THAT moment.” She finds that capturing a portrait the most rewarding as it allows her to capture the soul to to be passed down for generations to come. She’s been published in many types of projects. Her interests vary from Fine art and Concept Portraits to Wedding Photography. Her main goal is to capture their story from behind her lens.

Danielle Nicole

Rick Tauceda

Danielle Nicole is the owner and artist of her lifestyle, branding and wedding photography business since 2013. As an FIU graduate she studied the art of film photography in addition to having years of hands on experience with career based photographers throughout the Design District and local Bay Area. Being a Tampa native, this hispanic business owner has worked with many small businesses and families whom have kept Danielle Nicole Photography thriving. Being a part of this community has forged beautiful connections, helped businesses to grow and have turned clients into family. It was throughout her studies, in and out of school, that allowed her to follow this passion and create work that is not only timeless but additionally one of a kind. Great music, coffee and the occasional chocolate chip cookie are just a few things to keep her vibe alive. Thanking God each day is how she starts her mornings and navigating life with a grateful heart is her formula to a peaceful life.

I’m a first-generation immigrant from Tela Honduras. In 1960, my family migrated to New Orleans LA and there I met my wife of 40 years and we eventually settled in the Tampa Bay FL area in the late ‘90s. Photography has been my passion for about 20 years.

TAPPA Tribune

It started in May of 2000 when we went on a vacation to Cairns Australia and I had a cheapo Kodak disposable camera...the images were dull and didn’t capture well what we saw. From that moment on, I was determined to photograph the color of life as best as I could. As a freelance photographer, my mission is to capture those timeless moments of life, document important events and places, portray people in beautiful light and create images that compel one’s attention.
