President’s Message

It sounds like the FOCUS Convention was a great success. I want to thank all of the TAPPA members who served on or lead the work committees. The workers are always the true backbone of any organization. Thank you to Glenn Nielson, Karen Barnett and Carol Walker for your time as Committee Chairs and Managers. Thank you all for representing TAPPA well. I also want to extend some congratulations to our members. First and foremost is CAROL WALKER, the new FPP President. Yay!! Our TAPPA new degree recipients are Ed Booth and Betty Huth recieving their Florida Education Degrees, Booray Perry receiving his Florida Service Award and Julie Johnson receiving her Florida Degree of Photographic Excellence. Congratulations to all. If you go to printcompetition.com ‘post game’ and look at FOCUS 2016 Salon by ‘score’ you will see the first 2 high scores showing are Julie Johnson and Amanda Pratt both with 91 and then Randy Van Duinen and Petra Prion both with a 90. Congratulations to all of our merit winners. I hesitate to start listing them as I will, invariably, leave someone off the list. Merits were earned by Julie, Amanda, Randy and Petra as well as by Bill Cadzow, Betty Huth, Michael Landes, Trish Macfarlane, Kevin Newsome, Ginny Otto, and possibly others who I missed. Well done everyone. We also had some of these members earn place awards within their divisions. Distinguished awards went to; Bill Cadzow, Ginny Otto, Randy Van Duinen, Michael Landes and Julie Johnson. First place plaques were presented to Petra Prion (3 of them), Bill Cadzow, Amanda Pratt, Julie

Johnson and Randy Van Duinen (2 of them). Best of Show over all of the Portrait divisions was AMANDA PRATT. Best of Show in Commercial was RANDY VAN DUINEN. Best of Show in Illustrative was JULIE JOHNSON. With all of these heavy hitters competing for us it will come as no surprise that TAPPA won the Salon Section Award. We have 3 members on the Top 10 Florida Professional Photographer’s list. Congratulations to Petra Prion(2), Randy Van Duinen(3) and Michael Landes(5). Amanda Pratt won the First Time Competitor Award. And the FPP 2016 Artist of the Year is... (drum roll... RANDY VAN DUINEN. Sheesh! You leave the country for a week and miss all the action.
