! Entrepreneurship ! !
Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. They are ambitious and persistent, tackling major social issues and offering new ideas for wide-scale change.
Passion to Solve Problems
Jessica Menold, Founder of Empathink Carlye Lauff, Ph.D Student Design Methods and Theories in Mechanical Engineering
!
Rather than leaving societal needs to the government or business sectors, social entrepreneurs find what is not working and solve the problem by changing the system, spreading the solution, and persuading entire societies to move in different directions.
Are you passionate about a problem but feeling stuck or paralyzed by the constraints of actually solving it? At Empathink, we know firsthand that social entrepreneurs need the right tools to solve tough problems. We will use methods inspired from human centered design to provide you with the tools to develop solutions that are feasible, viable and most importantly desirable.

! ! ! Business Operations/Communication !! ! ! !! Demystifying Benefit Corporations Business Operations/Communication Jonathan Storper, Partner at Hanson Bridgett LLP ! ! We start with the basics, from the foundation of starting your own business or non-profit. How do you scale and actually make money doing what you love? These can be some of the most stressful choices faced by Changemakers, especially without someone to guide them with their own experiences. With basic operations and communication skills comes an empowerment to lead and follow through on bringing your vision to life.
Thinking of launching a social enterprise? This course will focus on the choices you have when selecting your organizational structure. Entrepreneurs are often confused by the difference between Benefit Corporations and Certified Corporations -- this class aims to demystify the two and help you determine if a for-profit or nonprofit structure is right for you.
How to Make Executive Decisions
How to Think Like Elon Musk About Education
!
!
Janet Lai Chang, Instructor at Skillshare
Michael Lai, Student Outreach Lead at Minerva Project
This workshop is based on a 4-step framework for saving time, money, and energy when it comes to big decisions in business, relationships, and life backed by research on cognitive science. If you are trying to decide whether you should move to a new city, go back to school, start your own business, accept a job offer, or learn to code (or an equally big decision)… this course is for you.
Billionaire entrepreneur and inventor Elon Musk is famous for co-founding PayPal, SpaceX and Tesla. What is the secret to Elon Musk’s success? One answer is the way he thinks about problems - in his words, “thinking from first principles.” What is first principles thinking? How do we apply it to challenge what your education looks like? Join an interactive brainstorming/discussion session thinking from first principles about college education, and learn how to think from first principles about your own life and leadership experiences.

Unplug To Reconnect
! Facilitators: Randi Kay Olsen & Patricia Echaverria !
In today’s world, it’s easy to distract ourselves with other people’s stories and lives. It is becoming essential to know our true story, and to check in with our true selves.
!
In this workshop, we will unplug to reconnect with the authentic You. We will guide you through a series of movements, meditations, and interactive exercises to release the blocks that prevent you from experiencing authentic success, and give you tools to help you thrive physically, emotionally, and mentally.

! ! ! Redefining Structure ! Facilitators: Emily Bonani & Roman Otmahov !
With the rise of the tech world there seems to be a simultaneous shift to working with the hands. We live in a world of sound bites and “click bait” and now, more than ever, it’s important that we sit down and reconnect with ourselves.
!
In this course, we are going to dive deep within and emerge with what we are really trying to change. Changemakers will work through this by manifesting what is found within with our hands and in the form of a sculpture. Changemakers will then work together to put together their individual sculptures to create a larger arch including everyone’s physical, manifested purpose.
