Established in 1930, The Fashion Group is a global non-profit organization of over 5,000 executives with 35 regions in nine countries around the world, representing all areas of the fashion, beauty and related industries. We are happy to represent the innovative city of Chicago. The Chicago region is highly regarded for its support of the fashion industry and the people who make it work.
what we do The Fashion Group International provides a high-profile forum to support and highlight the Fashion and design related industries including Beauty, Home Interior and Public Relations. To do this, Fashion Group hosts events that provide networking opportunities, educate and inform our members, and facilitate the exchange of ideas and common resources within the industry. Fashion Group events and programs bring together speakers and industry leaders in forums devoted to retailing, health and beauty, accessories, apparel, home decor, marketing and communications, publishing, international trade and development as well as sociological trends. The Chicago Fashion Group also gives back to the community by offering internships and hosting an annual Career Day for Fashion and Merchandising Students.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Alex Sabbag (C) 515.771.6158 (E) alexsabbag@gmail.com FASHION GROUP INTERNATIONAL CHICAGO HOSTS RISING STARS EVENT Fashion Group International Opens the Call for Nominations for the Rising Star Recognition, to be Awarded on September 12 Chicago (May 30, 2012) –Fashion Group International of Chicago announces the 8th bi-annual Rising Stars event to be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. The event will take place at the Hotel Sax in Chicago and will honor six emerging industry leaders in the categories of: Apparel, Accessories, Beauty Entrepreneur, Interiors/Home, Fine Jewelry, On-Line Media and Retail. Starting May 23, FGI Chicago will be accepting nominations for individuals in each of these categories, selecting six nominees for each category. Prior to the event on September 12, the Rising Star committee will engage in the selection process with all executive FGI members voting for the final winner per category. “We are incredibly excited to see who is nominated in our newest category; Online Media & Retail,” said Lisa Ackerman, Regional Director for Fashion Group International. “With the rapid rate of online development in the fashion and design world in the last few years, so much new talent is on the rise and we are thrilled with the opportunity to recognize these young industry leaders.” Nomination letters will be accepted by FGI Chicago through June 15 and the following eligibility requirements must be met by all potential award recipients:

A minimum of one year and a maximum of six years experience in the category
