Hello PHHS Key Clubbers! It appears that the 2015-2016 school year is coming to a close… But that doesn’t mean that it’s it for Key Club! In addition to recaps for Relay for Life and other occasions, in this newsletter you’ll find important information regarding how you can get your service on even over the summer. And graduating seniors, don’t feel left out: Learn about Circle K under Peek Outside PHHS to see how you too can continue being a part of the K-Family! Aside from that, we hope you all have an amazing summer, and we’ll see you again next year! Yours in Caring and Service, Tara Srinivasan and Shreya Nair

Key Club

Each year, over 4 million people raise funds

and awareness to save lives from cancer through Relay for Life, an overnight community fundraising walk headed by the American Cancer Society. Both the PHHS and PHS Key Clubs are proud to have contributed to our local event at the County College of Morris on June 4th-5th, along with the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany and the Aktion Club of Morris County. There, PHHS Key Clubbers helped run a carnivalgame table and merchandise shop to raise funds, while PHS Key Clubbers laid out Luminaria bags along the track to recognize survivors and caregivers and remember cancer victims who have passed away. Thank you to all who participated in this heartfelt, community-unifying event! June 2016

“Key”ping Active Over the Summer

It’s easy to forget your spirit of service due to summer vacation.

To prevent losing that touch, here are a few tips on maintaining your Key Club zest: Volunteer: Even though Key Club itself must take a break over the summer, community service never does; help is always needed. Seek out service opportunities around the town, so that when you return to Key Club in September, you’ll be able to ease right back into service! Put on your thinking cap: A great way to be more active in the club is to be a part of the service year process. If you have any ideas about new events we can hold, don’t be afraid to share it with the board! With a strong vision, lots of passion and commitment, and a little help from the higher-ups, your ideas can become a reality. Spread the word: If you love this club, don’t keep it all to yourself! Help raise awareness of Key Club in whatever way you can. Encourage the soon-to-be freshmen (who still probably think Key Club is about keys) to join next year. The more members, the more service! Prepare: To keep ahead of the game, roughly plan out your upcoming year. When Fall Rally comes along, will you be going? What’s your candle-selling goal for the Yankee Candle Fundraiser? Prepare now to be ready later! June 2016

Kiwanis Touch-a-Truck Saturday, June 18th marks one of

the most anticipated events of the year— the annual Touch-a-Truck! Run by the Parsippany Kiwanis, the Touch-a-Truck invites children of all ages to spend a day climbing on and exploring trucks of all shapes and sizes, including fire engines, construction vehicles, army trucks, police cars and more. Kiwanis calls on the PHHS Key Club to help supervise registration, assist in other fun activities like face-painting and temporary tattooing, and more. If interested in helping to make this event an enjoyable experience for the whole community, join the Kiwanians in the RV at 11 am at 1719 Route 10 East in Parsippany.

What’s the K-Family Up To? June Kiwanis Board Meeting On the morning of Thursday, June 2nd, the 2015-2016 Key Club Executive Board was honored to attend the board meeting of Kiwanis of Greater Parsippany at the Empire Diner. Over a delicious breakfast, they were able to meet various Kiwanians, observe their board elections, and learn more about the service they were engaged in. To take part in the sharing of information, our executive board also gave a run-down of the major events that took place this year. To the Kiwanis board, we are so grateful to be able to connect with you; we learned a lot and had a great time!

Circle K As the school year draws to a close, the current seniors of PHHS are

preparing to embark on the next major milestone of their lives—college! Although your high school career may be coming to an end, your community service doesn’t have to. Circle K International is an international collegiate program that promotes service, leadership, and fellowship. It is sponsored by our very own Kiwanis, providing former high school Key Clubbers the opportunity to continue their experience throughout their post high school lives. Make sure to join Circle K International wherever you may go after high school and continue helping your community in any way possible! Find out more at http://www.circlek.org
