Back to Key Club Welcome back to our Parsippany Hills Key Club! This year, we are

changing our registration policy to ensure complete dedication in our strive for service. Along with paying the usual registration fee, we ask that our prospective members complete these requirements by the end of October: Attend at least 1 general meeting in October Obtain at least 1o hours of service This being said, be assured that there will be countless service opportunities to complete the required number of hours! We encourage members to bring in cans for Fall Rally, fundraise for our upcoming Yankee Candle sale, and plan and participate in events such as Halloween at the Hills. If you have not yet attended a general informational meeting this year and still wish to become a member, be sure to meet in D25 on Wednesday, September 21st for a final opportunity!

Fall Rally Food Drive It’s once again that time of year! Fall Rally— the largest gathering of over

3,000 Key Clubbers from all over New Jersey— is coming up on October 9th at Six Flags Great Adventure. The event, whose theme this year will be Once Upon a Time in Key Club, will consist of a huge food drive for the New Jersey Federation of Food Banks to support our district project, “Hunger in New Jersey”. This means our own Key Club will start collecting food for the food drive. As we celebrate each Key Club division’s spirit and unity, we must remember that it is our community service that binds us together. One in seven people rely on food banks in New Jersey alone, so it is our duty to make sure we do our best to eliminate hunger within our own community. Please make sure you start to bring in nonperishable, canned food items now through October 7th to help out! Each item earns you ¼ of an hour.

Yankee Candle Fundraiser The Yankee Candle fundraiser is our biggest of the year, and is

starting soon! By selling candles and other types of scented goods to friends, family, and teachers, members can not only raise money for the club, but also gain hours to go towards their member requirements. Furthermore, the more you sell, the less it will cost to attend the annual New Jersey Key Club District Convention in the spring! We strongly encourage members to take advantage of this opportunity, to benefit the club, themselves, and the lucky people who will receive fabulous scented candles. Look out for catalogs in the next few general meetings!

Coming Up Halloween & Service As October rolls in, one of Key Club's main priorities will

(Below) Last year’s Halloween @ the Hills

be organizing the room for Halloween @ the Hills, Parsippany Hill's yearly festival, where clubs fill classrooms with decorations, games, and candy for the children of Parsippany to explore and enjoy. In order to ensure the event will run smoothly, we ask members to participate in any way they can over the next few weeks— making decorations, donating candy, and eventually helping out at the event. Be sure to join in and gather up some hours as well!

Also Halloween-related is Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. UNICEF

is an organization dedicated solely to assisting in children's-based needs in health care, education, and sanitation in developing countries, and one of Key Club International's preferred charities. To help do service in an impactful yet fun-and-easy way, we hope that members do their part while trick-or-treating on Halloween!

New Jersey district held Fall Regional Training Conferences— meetings where members from any Key Club can attend workshops to learn more about their roles and how to make the most out of volunteering, get to know each other through icebreakers and other fun activities, enjoy lunch served by the host school, and be updated on what events are upcoming in the district. By attending one of the RTCs— of which the theme was a groovy 70’s setup— executive board members were able to complete a requirement to eventually be recognized as a distinguished member. We are proud of our officers who attended and were able to bring back valuable information to our club! 6
