TABOR ACADEMY
Athletics at Tabor‌ aim to achieve the highest goals of sport; to be part of a team, to strengthen the team while strengthening yourself, to compete and to savor victory and learn from our defeats‌ and in the process of all of this, to discover fairness, sacrifice, and aspiration in pursuit of a goal. Athletics are developmental at Tabor with places on varsity teams determined by ability and space available. Students begin at the level most appropriate for them and progress as their interest and abilities evolve. A number of our most competitive teams attract students who start their Tabor careers at the varsity level. The rosters on these teams include at most a handful of students who have transitioned from the junior varsity to varsity level.

Nearly all of Tabor’s varsity coaches have collegiate experience in the sport they coach. Through their own experiences they know what hard work and teamwork can achieve. Our JV coaches specialize in instilling a love for the game, building skills and a strong sense of teamwork.

Tabor in the ISL The Independent School League (ISL) is an athletic association with the mission of integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. Member schools are committed to strong developmental and competitive sub-varsity and varsity experiences grounded in the teacher/coach model of instruction. Head of School John Quirk states, “within our league are peers and rivals who understand that the realm of competition and teamwork are endless opportunities for the best life-lessons to be manifest.” Quirk continues, “We are eager to have our philosophy honed by the collaborative spirit of others in this league, and to contribute to the broader learning conversation we know ISL schools enjoy.”
