Method Step 1 – Mount bead on hook and secure hook in vice. Starting behind the bead, form a bed of tying thread. Stop the thread when it is above the barb. Select a small bunch of Marabou and align base of plumes. Remove tips using the side of scissor blade to assist in breaking the plumes, do not cut as it gives a un-natural look to the tail
Step 2 – Mount the prepared Marabou plumes at the tail tie in point just above the barb position. Secure with several wraps of thread and check that the tail is sitting correctly. Trim Marabou plume butts level with the end of the bead and secure with wraps of thread to form a smooth under body.

Step 3 – With the thread now behind the bead catch in three (3) lengths of Flashabou on each side of the body. Wind the thread back to tail trapping the Flashabou. Trim Flashabou level with the Marabou tail. Tie in a length of red wire for the ribbing.
Step 4 – Take thread back to behind the bead and catch in a length of UniMylar. Note: You need to have the reverse colour facing you when the Uni-Mylar is tied in. In this case the orange will be showing. When the Uni-Mylar is wrapped the desired side, peacock, will be displayed.
Step 5 – Take thread back to the bead and catch in a small hen hackle.

Step 6 – Wind the Uni-Mylar forward in touching turns and secure behind the bead and trim.
Step 7 – Wind one turn of hackle behind the bead and then spiral in open turns ending at the tail tie in point. Secure hackle by counter winding with the ribbing. Secure wire with tying thread behind the bead. Worry the wire tag off. Trim waste hackle tip. Whip finish, apply head cement and groom hackles to shape.
