Subfloor Ventilation Comfort ➜ Increase comfort levels • Thermal • Acoustic Save ➜ Save on energy bills ➜ Pays for itself in as little as 3-4 years
Suspended floors have been insulated in New Zealand for over 30 years by various methods, and the reduced ventilation encountered on the underside of the floor has not been identified as a problem. The experience from New Zealand suggests that insulating suspended floors with Cosyfloor will stabilise the temperature of the subfloor area, thereby reducing the potential for moisture to be drawn up from the ground in winter conditions, which

Applying insulation to the underside of a suspended floor is an easy way to improve the warmth and comfort of your home, especially in winter. Floor insulation will also save on energy costs and help meet local energy efficiency requirements, especially for 5-star homes. Cosyfloor has been designed specifically for this purpose.

Installation steps
Installing Cosyfloor® under the suspended floor of your home will assist in achieving the energy efficiency requirements as set out in the Building Code of Australia (BCA). Essentially, in colder climates Cosyfloor is a must if you have suspended floors and plan to achieve a 5-star energy rating.
Cosyfloor comes in a handy 2-roll pack which is great for handling and transportation. It is suitable for use under floors with floor joists at 450mm centres. The product is designed to squeeze between the floor joists to allow a temporary friction fit before being stapled into place.
1. Commence working from one side or the back of the area to be covered.
The method of installation for Cosyfloor will depend on whether it is a new home under construction or a retrofit application. Either way, combined with the soft handling benefits of polyester, installation of Cosyfloor is quick and easy.
3. Fix the product in place by pinching a small section of the blanket and stapling it to the side of the timber floor joists every 300mm.
New construction – installation from above
5. Trim Cosyfloor with a sharp knife or a polyester cutter at the ends.
When building a new home or replacing floorboards, Cosyfloor can be easily installed from above. The Cosyfloor blanket will fit snugly between the joists and be fixed into the side of the timber floor joists with a staple gun.
NB: Care must be taken when working on timber joists. If the underfloor area is dusty or confined, we recommend that a disposable dust mask is used.
Thermal performance Cosyfloor is an innovative insulation product made from polyester formed into a blanket to create a soft to handle premium under floor insulation. The polyester blanket provides a thermal insulation value of R1.5* or R2.0* thereby retarding the flow of heat in and out of the home. Cosyfloor also helps reduce draughts from entering homes through suspended timber floors.
Noise reduction The home can be a noisy place. There is enough sound coming from living areas without worrying about additional noises from under the home, such as the plumbing. Cosyfloor can help reduce the level of noise transfer that reaches you in the living areas of your home. Additionally, Cosyfloor may be used for insulating between levels of a multi-storey home for both thermal and accoustic comfort.
Energy efficiency Insulation is the single most cost effective way of improving a home’s energy efficiency. Once installed, Cosyfloor will work to minimise temperature fluctuations for the life of your home. This reduces the demand for heating and cooling to keep the home comfortable, thereby reducing energy use and costs. This all helps conserve our natural resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Cosyfloor benefits • Reduces heating loss • Reduces cold draughts entering your home • Reduces the transfer of noise from under the house • Saves money on your energy bills • Conserves energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions • Soft to handle and easy to install
*This is a material R-value. The Total R-value will be greater.
Retrofit application – installation from below Where there is adequate space we recommend that Cosyfloor is installed from underneath the floor. The Cosyfloor blanket will fit snugly between the joists and be fixed into place with a staple gun.
2. Push the product into the joist spacing so that the top edges of the product are flush with the top of the timber floor joists.
4. Keep Cosyfloor smooth and tight as you move down the length of the floor joist.
