To Our Guests WE WELCOME YOU TO TASIS DORADO’S HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION CEREMONY Thank you for joining us to celebrate this solemn but joyful recognition of the graduates’ years of study. The ceremony will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel https://youtu.be/IOVUtwRlP3Y. To commemorate this milestone, two professional photographers will take photos of each graduate. For your convenience, the ceremony photos will be viewable and downloadable free of charge at our SmugMug Photo Gallery https://tasisdorado.smugmug.com/2021-2022/High-School-GraduationCeremony-Class-2022/ within five days after the ceremony. Additionally, photographer Cecil Pedrosa will be taking official photos of each graduate, which can be purchased. If interested, please email Cecil Pedrosa at cecilphoto@yahoo.com. To avoid congestion and to maintain decorum in the ceremony, we ask that family members refrain from approaching the stage when taking pictures. Members of the audience are asked to remain in their seats throughout the ceremony so they do not disrupt the program or interfere with the special moments of others. When the Processional begins, we ask that you rise to welcome the Class of 2022. Remain standing until all the seniors have reached their seats and during the performance of the National Anthems. TASIS Dorado Senior Liliana Dávila Perea NAMED 2022 U.S. PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR FOR PUERTO RICO Liliana Dávila Perea, The TASIS School in Dorado’s Class of 2022, joins 161 outstanding
high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in academics, artistic and technical excellence, and a commitment to community service and leadership. The Presidential Scholars Class of 2022 will be recognized for their outstanding achievement this summer with an online recognition program. As directed by Presidential Executive Order, the 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholars are comprised of one young man and one young woman from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and U.S. families living abroad, as well as 15 chosen at-large, 20 scholars in the arts and 20 scholars in career and technical education. Since its inception in 1964, this program has honored 7,900 of the nation’s top-performing students.
Next fall, Liliana will pursue her undergraduate studies in Communications at The University of Pennsylvania.
U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona announced Liliana Dávila Perea ’22, who attends the TASIS School in Dorado, is among 2022’s 58th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars. Liliana acknowledged Rachel Glenn, TD high school Biology, AP Biology, and AP Environmental Science teacher, who has been with TASIS Dorado for 8 years, as her most influential teacher. Rachel will receive a Distinguished Teacher Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Education at the virtual ceremony. Ms. Glenn shares, “Liliana has a way of making everyone feel welcomed and respected. She balances her many responsibilities with grace while proving to be a dedicated, gifted, and inquisitive student. Not only is Liliana consistently striving to better herself, but is dedicated to improving things for those around her.” Upper School Director, Sara Hernández adds, “Liliana is a talented, committed, quietly confident, and natural leader with a kind heart who serves as an invaluable asset to the TASIS Dorado community. Her sense of responsibility, dedication, and commitment to excellence will ensure her inevitable success. We look forward to watching her achieve her dreams and be of service to others.” This prestigious honor is the latest in a series of accomplishments for Liliana, including National Student Council Distinguished Leader, AP Scholar with Distinction, National Hispanic Scholar, and founder of non-profit Cookies 4 Change to benefit a women and children’s shelter, and the community of Los Naranjos. Liliana is also the recipient of the National Student Council
Distinguished Student Leader Award by the National Association of Student Councils and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Over the years, Liliana found herself immersed in many aspects of academic and extracurricular pursuits ranging from Student Council (executive and class boards), National Honor Society, National French Honor Society, Model United Nations, and peer tutoring to swimming, writing, playing piano, and even acting as a change agent for important social issues. A TASIS Bear since PPK, Liliana reflects fondly on her time at TASIS Dorado, including memories of filling up her “passport” through TASIS Dorado’s signature program Communities of the World, participating in valuable conversations in AP Psychology class, and growing as a leader through Student Council experiences. Liliana said, “It is truly an honor to be chosen as a U.S. Presidential Scholar this year. I’m eternally grateful for the support system that has consistently encouraged me to pursue my goals and seize opportunities. Earning this recognition wouldn’t have been possible without my parents, who serve as my greatest role models, and my teachers, who have helped me develop my passions and grow as a leader. I believe this accomplishment is a reflection of their unconditional love, support, and guidance.” Liliana leaves TASIS Dorado with anticipation of what’s to come while encouraging her fellow Bears to take advantage of every opportunity, keeping in mind balance is key. TASIS Dorado is an independent, non-sectarian, coeducational, not-for-profit, college-preparatory day school affiliated with The American School in Switzerland (TASIS) Schools in Switzerland, England, and Portugal. 900 students grades PPK to 12 are educated in both modern facilities and attractive natural surroundings with English as the primary language of instruction. Highly qualified faculty strive to inspire the pursuit of knowledge, love of wisdom, appreciation for beauty, and development of character. For more info, visit www.tasisdorado.com.
