I want to express my deep gratitude to each of you for your unwavering commitment, invaluable contributions of time and resources, and steadfast support that have significantly enriched our institution. Your active participation and philanthropic initiatives have led to remarkable milestones this year. I am delighted to announce that, thanks to two historic gifts, the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) construction is nearing completion and will be ready for students this fall alongside the Wellness & Athletic Center (WAC). With their innovative programming, these cutting-edge buildings stand as a testament to our shared vision for academic excellence and holistic development.

The CITL, fostering a culture of inquiry, experimentation, and collaboration, will propel our talented students and faculty toward forward-thinking educational practices. This transformative center will enhance faculty expertise through comprehensive professional development, reflective teaching practices, and the advancement of pedagogical approaches.

Simultaneously, the Wellness & Athletic Center will allow our students to develop leadership skills while promoting discipline, teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and humility. Moreover, it will serve as a vibrant community gathering space, inviting all members to embrace a healthy lifestyle focused on social interactions, nutrition, physical activity, and mental well-being.

Looking ahead, we are excited to engage the broader community in our continued efforts. We invite your support in achieving our strategic objectives, which include a deep commitment to providing highly competitive compensation for our faculty and staff, expanding financial aid for faculty and families in need, and extending our efforts to offer need-based scholarships to high-achieving applicants from surrounding communities.

Thank you for investing in the growth and development of TASIS Dorado. Your contributions have a tangible and lasting impact on the lives of our students and the overall learning environment. We remain steadfast in nurturing their academic and personal wellbeing and eagerly anticipate future opportunities in the coming year.

DESERVING PRIORITIES

TASIS DORADO FUND

Contributions to the TASIS Dorado Fund, our school’s annual fund, serve as unrestricted gifts that are critical to the success of our program and pave the way to meet institutional demands throughout the year. The fund received $237,182, which supports pressing needs beyond planned operations, making way for new opportunities, program expansion, and unexpected challenges.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, PROGRAM ENHANCEMENT & MENTOR TEACHER EXCHANGE PROGRAM

TASIS Dorado received unprecedented support totaling $2,016,000 for professional development, program enhancement, and the newly established Mentor Teacher Exchange Program, which includes plans for a two-story townhouse village modeled after the Sabanera architecture on nearby campus grounds. These funds will transform faculty and staff professional development, support teacher and student exchange opportunities, and elevate WAC and CITL programming.

SCHOLARSHIP & FINANCIAL AID

Each year, TASIS Dorado awards full-tuition scholarships for our secondary program through the Maritere Matosantos Scholarship Fund, which creates opportunities for deserving students of all different socioeconomic situations to join our community. This year, $240,500 was donated to support the tuition of 11 students in their educational journey.

An additional $25,000 was donated to Financial Aid, which directly impacts our efforts to support current TASIS Dorado students experiencing financial hardship.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Each year, TASIS Dorado receives support for various needs, including the school’s Athletics Department, Bee Project, Disaster Relief Fund, Model UN, Performing Arts, and other future initiatives. This year, these areas received $166,300, which helped support growth and improvement across these deserving needs.

Record-Breaking Success Across Two Capital Campaigns

The academic year 2023-24 marks a monumental year as TASIS Dorado unveils two state-of-the-art facilities, our Wellness & Athletics Center (WAC) and Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL). Expected to open in Fall 2023, the much anticipated WAC & CITL are the direct result of a focused vision and commitment of the Board of Directors, Senior Leadership Team, and our generous community supporters coupled with two impressive capital campaigns.

Wellness & Athletics Center

Since 2018, the start of the Capital Campaign, our donors have raised

$ 5,329,593 in support of the Wellness & Athletics Center. A total of $346,250 was raised in 2022-23. Thank you for your unwavering support!

Recognizing that health and wellness represent forms of excellence fully connected to students’ intellectual lives, the Wellness & Athletics Center will fulfill student-athletes’ needs while serving the broader school community. The airconditioned WAC will sport newly equipped spaces such as an indoor gymnasium featuring basketball, volleyball, and futsal courts, a Toro Verde-sponsored rock climbing wall, a fitness center, a wellness resource lounge, and a culinary classroom for students to exercise, relax, and engage in physical and wellness activities. External improvements include new turf for soccer, track & field facilities, beach volleyball and beach tennis courts, and two playgrounds.

Under the guidance of a new Director of Wellness & Athletics, the center will build upon TASIS Dorado’s current programs, including pre-season workouts, year-round training, strength and conditioning, expanded coaching staff, and additional clubs, extracurriculars, and programs across all school levels, including dance, table tennis, and spike ball.

The Wellness program will undergo an expanded curriculum focused on emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual balance. The culinary arts classroom will foster nutritional exploration and programming. School counselors’ offices will invite students to gather and converse in a safe and comfortable environment. Multipurpose spaces will facilitate active programs such as yoga, pilates, and dance.

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

FUTURE LEADERS & FOREVER LEARNERS

The TASIS Dorado Leadership Academy, a Stubbe family legacy, is a program designed to elevate and refine the leadership qualities of selected students in their sophomore and junior years. During the program’s first phase, sophomore members identify strengths, recognize essential goals, and explore and apply design thinking, while establishing a foundation of leadership skills and self-awareness. In the summer between sophomore and junior years, students travel abroad to explore a global issue while leveraging their acquired skills at the Global Leadership Summit in Berlin, Germany. Throughout junior year, students receive career learning opportunities and focus on a capstone project using design-thinking to tackle realworld problems.

During the 2022-23 school year, the Leadership Academy welcomed its second cohort for phase one of the program. Our inaugural group of Academy students demonstrated how they can apply what they have learned and positively impact the community around them. For their capstone projects, members of the junior class cohort designed educational programs for less fortunate students, identified solutions for poorly equipped school facilities, produced infomercials focused on the importance of recycling, and created a certification program for restaurants that commit to environmental sustainability by reducing the usage of single-use plastics.

A memorable highlight for the second year of the Leadership

Academy included a visit from Juan Bendaña, a renowned speaker, trainer, and entrepreneur who speaks to over 100,000 students and adults annually across the globe. During his day at TASIS Dorado, Juan empowered students to grow as leaders, inspire others, and work effectively within a team. Due to the unanimously positive feedback, Juan will work again with our Leadership Academy students throughout the first semester of the 2023-24 school year, including a return to campus in September.

GLOBAL ONLINE ACADEMY

BRINGING THE WORLD TO TASIS DORADO AND TASIS DORADO TO THE WORLD

2022-23 marked TASIS Dorado’s initial year as a member of the Global Online Academy (GOA), an elite consortium of 130 top-rated private schools that provides accredited upper school courses amplifying passion-driven learning. Unique spaces in the CITL, such as the Virtual and Flex Classrooms and Virtual Teaching Pods, will be instrumental in leveraging this partnership.

This past year, eight students enrolled in various courses, including Neuropsychology, Fiction Writing, Filmmaking, Entrepreneurship in a Global Context, Digital Photography, Medical Problem Solving I, and Geometry. Students reported a unique blend of high-quality teacher feedback, a

strong sense of belonging, diverse perspectives, student-led learning, and personal and academic growth opportunities. Access to these interestbased courses has enabled students to explore their passions, develop essential skills, and better prepare for college.

Looking ahead to 2023-24 enrollment, numbers have more than doubled, with 14 students enrolled in 18 courses including Digital Photography, Geometry, Precalculus, Computer Science I: Computational Thinking, Multivariable Calculus, Number Theory, Problem Solving with Engineering and Design, Branding & Marketing, Architecture, and Developmental Psychology.

TASIS Dorado’s IRONBEAR Challenge & 5K, held from November 1 to 12, 2022, encouraged the community to get active and connect with family while raising funds supporting our TASIS Dorado and Scholarship Funds

The friendly competition brought IRONBEARS together for two inperson events. The in-school Kickoff, held on November 1, offered a hula hoop contest, a balloon pop relay race, and the motivation to get our IRONBEARS moving. Our

CHALLENGE & 5K

TD community came out for a funfilled 5K, Fun Run and family day on November 12 at Dorado Beach Resort to close out the Challenge. Over 350 IRONBEARS, volunteers, faculty, staff, and family pets concluded the challenge by enjoying an afternoon of inflatables, music, games, tasty treats, ice-cold Ocean Lab beer, great company, and the race!

Surpassing all participation and fundraising goals, 425 IRONBEARS raised $148,109 in just 12 days. It was a humbling and impressive experience

to see what can be accomplished when our community bands together. A sincere thank you to all of our IRONBEARS, with special thanks to our student, parent, faculty, and staff volunteers, plus special recognition to our top family donors, the GrzanKhimani Family, Méndez Colón Family, Jackson Loomis & Bihua Chen, and Sumit Sangha & Nancy Sidhu and our top event sponsors, Afshar Family, NUMERO UNO Beach House, Dorado Beach Resort, Patton Hope Foundation, and Powel Family.
