TOWARDS TO S T A G E by Berfin AZ In our life there is a liminal zone that prepares us from one medium to another. You are neither inside or out. It helps us to make preparations for the place we are going. The athletes prepares for stadium, we are too prepare with thereshold for place. The steps, the curtains, the voice of the guests, the applause voice ..They’re all ready to go out on stage. In some of the halls we take to stage through the steps. Often, are used to make a speech or a prize.
sitting, the buttons of their jackets may be turned on. And in the meantime, the person get prepares for situations of being on the stage. This preparation is actually made under the supervision of guests and the people on the stage. In fact, it begins the situation with the person’s sitting close to the stage, and it continues this situation with person’s calling from server. If someone wants to fix his / her dress or suit as he / she gets up from the seat with his / her name said, he / she can fix it, like button his / her jacket’s button - it should be more formal on stage. Person can prepare; yourself or him conversation or him voice tone for audience. We can see the change as a threshold. On the way to the stage, the person’s role changes. He is no longer an audience, he is a now who person address to audience. It is a kind of step, that is, the threshold there changes the person’s role, and in this changing
The steps taken when going to the stage to get awards at the prize ceremonies serve as thresholds at that venue. There are serious space differences between the stage and the seats. More official because the audience is being addressed and giving presentations on stage. Clothing should be more attentive. For example, men’s jacket’s should have buttons off. The part of the audience may be less formal. For example, when men are 6
time, the threshold gives time to person. The person has now completed his change and has become a part of the scene. His experience on the stage allows him to get a place there. After the end of him conversation, and then after the applause and saluting the process begins on the threshold, him to return to his former role. To return to his role, he moves towards the steps and begins to change on the threshold again. Completing the process on the threshold, it ends when the jacket opens the button open after person is seated. After completing this process, his role now is to be guest.

After the invitation of the guest, the process of temporary change has begun for him as he is finished there, and when he pulls to the edge of the stage or comes down from the steps. He or she is a now viewer until the speaker’s speech is over. When the speaker’s speech is finished, he or she returns to task and takes back his role. The thresholds on the stage familiarize us different between the two places and cause our roles to change. There is also a threshold for players to enter the stage behind the scenes. The only obstacle to the audience is the curtain. In fact, we should not call the curtain a barrier, it is a liminal zone behind the scenes with the audience. The threshold there is for the players to prepare for the role of the game, for audience. The sound of the audience coming from behind the curtain, the last arrangements made behind the curtain, final rehearsals‌ They are all part of the process and change on the threshold. The threshold process ends with the start of the game. 7
Liminal Zone from Hotel Lobby by Helin BASKIN I want to mention about hotel lobbies. That has to have liminal zone, because hotels have lots of transition elements. Hotel is not like home, and it do not design to make you feel like home already. You just should being here short-term, because hotels are not the your house.

Firstly, when you come to hotel, you pass through the entrance gate. This door separates the inside from the outside. An employee is waiting to customer for open the exterior door, and mostly an employee say “Welcome. That’s first step for prepare to you about hotel room. This situation makes you feel like someone important. Mostly the reception is just across the entrance door. The entrance gate and the reception area are the lobby. There is usually a waiting area in the gap between the two places. An area where you can sit and spend time after or before talking with the employee in the reception.
The first thing you need to do is to head to the reception desk and and set the room where you will stay, or if you know someone who is staying there you can ask for help. Sometimes you have to wait to get your work done. Then you have to sit and wait in the lobby. You can read some magazine, brochure or newspaper, when you wait. Either you may socialize to other customers. This way you can find a friend who will have a good time for a short time at the hotel. Apart from these, you are already staying at the hotel and you are bored in your room. So you can go down to the lobby and work here, or you can do business negotiations. You could be do this. You can also get coffee, tea or alcoholic beverages while you’re here. It is like one of the places you can socialize the most during your stay. When you come back and talk to the reception you have to accept yourself into this hotel, and you negotiate with receptionist. So you need to talk and pay attention to your voice tone. You also need to have enough money. Otherwise you cannot stay in the hotel. You need to convince the employee in the reception, if you will go to your friend. Since the employees cannot give the names of the people staying at the hotel, the receptionist will let you go to the room after you call the person you are calling to see if they recognize you and if you are eligible to go to the room. If the person in question does not give you permission, you will be trapped in the lobby. You can also meet your friend in the lobby. The lobby, on the other hand, is like the living room in our homes. It’s the most important space we allow you to enter after you accept our people home. The hotel room is in a private area and we cannot accept everybody in the hotel room if we do not get everybody in the bedroom. 9
Some hotels have bars attached to the lobby. The bar area is sometimes used in common with the reception, sometimes before arriving at the reception area. The bar, which is independent of the reception, you can expect a friend who staying at the hotel. If you are staying in the hotel, you can drink something in the bar and meet new people. The waiting area with the bar and the lobby has the same function. However, the bar is an environment where sincerity can further advance compared to the waiting area. 10
Areas forming the lobby; reception, waiting area and bar are the thresholds of the hotel. These thresholds vary in ordinary and luxury hotels. The distance between luxury hotel lobbies and entrance doors is always more. This increases the thresholds and extends the acceptance. The interior design is usually designed to be luxurious and splendid in the luxury hotel. The hotel reflects the fact that the people to be here must be important. In luxury hotels, the statunity must be high and increase the statue. There are things you need to do to be accepted. You have to be dressed appropriately, such as smart clothes. Of course, you should have enough money for this hotel. If the you don’t have enough money, they unacceptable to you for stay at the hotel. However, the distance between the entrance gate and the reception is very short in ordinary hotels. Eden Locke Hotel is an example to this. It is much more convenient for you to negotiate yourself into such hotels. It is much more convenient for you to accept yourself into such hotels. Ordinary hotels receptionist are easier to convince luxury hotels receptionists. You do not need to pay attention to your clothes and talk.

Wassily Kandinsky- Composition VII Kandinsky made this picture in 1913, a year before the First World War. Kandinsky cares about a few things. One of these is the connection of colors, shapes with music and other senses. According to him, we can hear voices and hear certain colors. It’s hard to understand what Kandinsky is doing. But we have to focus on how it looks, or how it comes to the ears. In this picture, shapes and lines look in different directions. Perhaps the pieces are in conflict with each other. They stand together in an incompatible manner, and the deterioration of the space is perceived. Kandinsky wanted to convey his personal color, shape experience to the canvas. He wanted to tell us a private moment. It seems like he especially wanted to shapes look unnatural. He wanted to explain the feelings and effects of his experiences. When we look at the picture, we do not understand what it is. But it is felt that this is the purpose. It seems like he is ignoring our wish to associate the picture with a landscape or even an abstract. He is adopting us the idea that form and color can conflict with each other. It is aimed to legitimize the abstract by using red, green, blue on yellow. Each form arouses the feeling that it is not fixed, it seems as if they are separated from each other and then come together again. Considering the year that picture was made, I sense a doomsday air in the picture. We can speak of a spiritual approach. Before making this picture, Kandinsky stated in his book that color and art are in close connection with faith. His next pictures are more systematic and clear. Whereas Kandinsky paints oil on canvas, this work has freedom as opposed to his later paintings. Dilara Tekin
