ANNUAL REPORT 2011

For 22 years Rose worked in a pharmacy in Port-au-Prince. She had a nice six-room home— very large in comparison to her neighbors. She did well and loved her life. But on January 12, 2010, her story changed when an earthquake sent most of her city toppling to the ground. She spent three days under the debris. Every passing moment seemed like her last. When she was finally rescued she knew there was nothing they could do to save her leg. Six surgeries later, a new commitment to follow Christ and almost two years in a ripped up tent, Rose received the opportunity to begin her new life. She has a new home—one you lovingly provided for her—neighbors who pray with her, and an even greater love for her “little country.”

Churches in the St. Louis metropolitan area had just finished their Good Friday services when the strongest tornado to hit St. Louis in 40 years ripped through their community. Thankfully no one died, but more than 2,000 homes were severely damaged. That’s why we partnered with Service International to provide immediate relief following the storm.

Through that testimony of healing, and the support of our friends and partners, God is reaching the hearts of people like Shirley Fullerton, a partner with the ministry who is determined to do whatever she can to help those in need around her. Even in one of her most devastating moments‌ On May 22, 2011, Joplin, Missouri, was ripped apart by one of the worst tornadoes in U.S. history. Shirley lost most everything, but one thing kept her going‌ The desire to help her community.

You provided relief following

disasters:

tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and fires.

For years Shirley has been listening to Joyce on TV, and she’s a partner with the ministry.

In the days following the storm, one of our Call Center representatives called to check on her. She says that call gave her the strength to focus on helping others instead of the problems before her. It was in those moments that Shirley found joy in the midst of her pain and began the process of healing in her own heart. In the middle of her loss and devastation, God began to write a new story of healing in her life and the neighbors she was able to reach. And as a partner with Joyce Meyer Ministries her love reaches far beyond her own city into the lives of so many hurting around the world. Girls like Natasha...

A native Russian, Natasha came to the United States in pursuit of the all-American dream. She wanted to be famous—to live a glamorous life just like all those movie stars she’d seen on the big screen. But when she made it to New York, the road she thought would lead her to stardom, instead, led her straight into the torturous prison of human trafficking. Dancing in bars. A job in an escort service. A drug addiction. Being pimped out by her “owner.” All unwilling stops on the way to Hollywood, but not as the famous actress she dreamed of becoming. Then one night, life changed for Natasha. She found herself alone on a street corner, bags packed, searching for a way out. That’s when a kind lady, led by the Holy Spirit, stopped and offered her a way out…

You rescued women and children from human trafficking in

countries:

United States, India, Thailand, Ethiopia, Greece, Cambodia, Lesotho, Ukraine and Bulgaria.

Recalling those days, Natasha now can smile with ease— something that didn’t happen when she first came to Project Hope, a home for girls rescued from human trafficking. Joyce Meyer Ministries partnered with the Los Angeles Dream Center to fund the construction of the shelter. It’s because now she sees herself as a young lady full of the hope and possibilities of God—not the piece of trash everyone tried to convinced her she was. Natasha can now see her future wrapped up in the plans of God instead of the lies and manipulation of her abusers.

And thanks to you, she found Him. She was the first girl to graduate the program and begin the new life God has planned for her.

*Natasha’s name and image have been changed for her safety.

You provided vital household necessities to refugee families a month through our partnership with Heart 4 Lebanon.

For centuries the Middle East has been known as a volatile place for Christians. With the constant presence of political and religious tensions and conflict, it has been a place of severe persecution—

Dr. Hekmat knows this all too well. Although he wasn’t sure if he should take it seriously, he was plagued by the thoughts of the text message he had received—a threat on his family’s lives. Threats like this were common for Christians in Iraq and he’d seen many of his friends hurt as a result. The threats became all too real after his son, who was extremely ill, was denied treatment at the hospital in Mosul. Dr. Hekmat narrowly escaped with his life when masked men ambushed his car in a torrent of gunfire as he left the hospital. Doubt was gone; he knew he had to get his family out of Iraq immediately. So they packed little, left everything behind and fled to Beirut, Lebanon.

Everywhere you look in Angacha, Ethiopia, you see devastating hunger. In the bodies and faces of babies and their families. It’s hot. They’re thirsty. And they cry because they are so weak and frail, they can’t even hold their heads up. At the Joyce Meyer Ministries feeding program, mothers, and a few fathers, sit together under a tent with eyes full of hopeful expectation. They are about to receive something they’ve been longing and praying for—food. But Amite’s family isn’t welcomed to wait for their food with the others. It’s clear the other villagers don’t welcome them here. They are, after all, pottery makers— considered the lowest of the low in their society.

Looking past what the other villagers see,

Not only are you providing food for her and her family, you’re giving her unconditional love and acceptance—by the simple act of serving and caring for her along with the others. She is no longer alone and her story shifts from devastation to one full of love.

You provided meals in Ethiopia alone. Throughout the world you helped serve more than 31 million meals.

Her husband has physically confined her to the four walls of her home in Tirane, Albania. She is trapped and yet, a look of joy overwhelms her face. For the first 14 years of her marriage, she lived imprisoned in misery. But 11 years ago, when she found Christ, something changed in her heart. Her husband has kept her locked at home—with the exception of a few rare outings, but thanks to Joyce’s teachings—books like Tell Them I Love Them and the Enjoying Everyday Life radio program—she’s able to face each day with joy. While he’s at work, she listens, studies and clings to the hope that God will one day reach her husband.

MORE THAN FEEDING PROGRAMS

FED 70,000 CHILDREN IN 24 HOURS At feeding sites around the world, our partners help provide that many meals to children daily. When a parent sees their malnourished child eat and drink for the first time in weeks…it’s hard to imagine how that feels. Thank YOU for letting them know they’re not forgotten—that their lives are worth saving. In 2011, we began feeding families in El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Madagascar, North Korea, Latvia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

TO NEEDY FAMILIES IN THE UNITED STATES WATER RELIEF

SETTING A NEW PACE IN BORE WELL PRODUCTION It’s not easy to find clean, safe drinking water in some countries…even if you wake up early and walk for hours to get it. But with your help, we’re making water accessible to people in desperate need. In 2010, we drilled 16 wells...and in 2011, we drilled 69. In addition, new water tanks were installed in Malawi, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. They collect and store water, preventing local projects from running out of clean drinking water in times of power outages.

EVERY TIME WE SERVE A MEAL, WE SHARE GOD’S LOVE. SO THOSE SAME 70,000 MEALS YOU PROVIDED WERE SERVED WITH A SIDE OF HOPE, COMPASSION AND ENCOURAGEMENT IN CHRIST—AND THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT HIS BLESSINGS OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND ETERNAL LIFE FOR THOSE WHO SIMPLY BELIEVE. THANK YOU

HEART REJOICED Watching God heal a physical ailment isn’t something every Christian sees on a daily basis. But we get to see it happen every time we follow His lead to the mission field! God’s heart is to heal the whole person, so in tandem with providing modern medicines and medical/dental care, we take the opportunities God gives us to pray for and share the Gospel with most of the patients. In 2011, YOU helped bring much needed medical care to Cambodia, Ethiopia (twice), Haiti, Kosova, Thailand, Zimbabwe, Nicaragua, Lebanon, Panama, Uganda and Guatemala. We saw God forever change the lives of 1,177 Panamanians who prayed to receive Christ as their Savior during our 25th medical/dental missions trip.

CHILDREN’S HOMES

HELP DEVASTATED

BRING HOPE

COMMUNITIES START OVER

WHEN HOMES ARE BROKEN

Homes torn apart by natural disasters can be rebuilt, but it takes a unified response. Thank YOU for helping bring hope to residents recovering from tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods and fires. Together, we picked up debris, provided tools and cleaning supplies, trained volunteers, and helped rebuild homes—bringing Christ’s love and compassion to communities in need of restoration.

Orphans and widows are among the most disadvantaged in life— which is why God specifically asks us to care for them (see James 1:27). In obedience to His call, we are privileged to provide homes for 1,157 orphaned children who are learning the truth about their worth in Christ. Our partnership with Watoto gives widows in Uganda the opportunity to become “housemothers” for children whose parents have abandoned them or died, often due to civil war or the AIDS virus. Thank YOU for showing them the tangible love of God.

Sometimes a person’s greatest need can seem like something very simple to others—school supplies, diapers, socks and underwear. But for the recipients of our Supply Hope outreaches, these items can mean much more. In 2011, we began partnering with local ministries and organizations in cities where we hold our U.S. conferences to provide basic necessities that will bless families in need. In Baton Rouge, 3,000 boxes of diapers and wipes were distributed and in St. Louis, 7 large shipping containers of school supplies made their way to the inner city. Throughout the year, attendees provided thousands of dollars worth of these vital supplies.

In addition to lifesaving food, we were able to provide fresh water through 10 wells established in Somalia, as well as an additional well on the Kenya/Somalia border.

What a difference it makes having partners that help us accomplish God’s work around the globe! It is their consistent commitment to pray and give that helps us keep going each day to share God’s Word and bring practical help to people in need. Partners not only help us provide initial relief to hurting people, but they also help provide stability and staying power to those outreaches. And sustainability is what matters most when needs are ongoing. That’s why we have established long-term outreaches. We are not interested in entering a location, giving something to people and then leaving without any follow-up. Whenever possible, we continue providing as much as we can to meet the need. And God has given us many opportunities to serve beyond the immediate crisis. We’re determined to maintain the programs God starts. human trafficking. We are also helping them build new lives. This outreach provides the love and support these precious women and young girls need to be healed and whole spiritually, emotionally and physically. We also teach them skills they can use to find gainful employment and earn a supportable living away from prostitution.

SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI When we started the St. Louis Dream Center in the heart of the North St. Louis community over ten years ago, we were determined to be there for the long haul. Thanks to you, the Dream Center is still going strong. For example, the various feeding programs for the homeless, children and families provided a combined 652,112 meals in 2011. And there are many other outreaches taking place here as well.

CAMBODIA What began in 2007 as a month-long medical outreach called “Hope Cambodia,” has developed into a consistent outreach here. In 2009 Hand of Hope funded the construction of a medical center in Pursat, Cambodia. This facility sees an average of 125 patients per day five days a week. In 2011, another short-term medical missions team went to help out at the center and serve even more people. Plus, our feeding program at the trash dump in Phnom Penh has been feeding and educating children for several years now.

HAITI Since the horrible earthquake struck this nation in 2010, we

have been working to help provide additional life-saving outreaches. One hundred families have each received a brand-new home—one that is permanent and they can call their own for the rest of their lives. Thanks to your support, Miracle Village is now a reality. We have also been working to provide ongoing medical care, meals and Christian discipleship to assist the people in rebuilding their lives.

“What we have done over the years is be frugal with God’s money. We have been good stewards. My goal was to not let the vision get beyond the provision. Because I knew that if the vision got beyond the provision, we would be serving the vision instead of having what we needed to take care of all the things God had given us to do.” —DAVE MEYER, VICE PRESIDENT, JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES

Thank you for making it possible for us to keep reaching out day after day to help hurting people. Together we are sharing Christ… and loving people.

human trafficking.

OUR STORY 2011

“My wife and I are both seasoned world travelers,” said Tyler Ramsey. “But our trip to Panama was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. Our faith and our marriage are stronger for it.”

“When people walked into the clinic, they seemed nervous and skeptical—hardened by life,” said Jacqueline. “But as they went through the process of being treated and ministered to…you could see their spirit change. Half of them started crying because they were so thankful, not just for free healthcare, but because people were there to talk and pray with them.” Tyler was impressed to see a diverse team of people working together, changing lives. “We were from completely different worlds, but there was such peace and unity in the team. It really set me and my wife on fire,” he said. “It takes people and organizations working together to create dramatic change, and that’s everyone’s goal at the end of the day.”

The couple met while Tyler was working on staff for the reality TV show Survivor. His wife, Jacqueline, was a 2008 cast member. The two of them are ministry partners, and were among a group of thirty-six Joyce Meyer Ministries staff members and volunteers who traveled to Panama for a two-part medical/ dental missions trip in 2011. He and Jacqueline both prayed with patients after they received medical treatment, giving hugs, and praying for healing and hope through Jesus Christ.

As partners with Joyce Meyer Ministries, the Ramsey’s are part of a diverse group of people all working together to make “Our Story” possible—spreading hope and the joy of knowing Jesus in a personal way. “I think that simply sharing joy is one of the best ways to get the Gospel out. Joyce Meyer Ministries does that very well. And when you see an organization that’s so good at spreading joy, you can’t help but get involved.”

This year has been an amazing time of sharing Christ and loving people. We’ve had a wonderful year of sharing our lives, seeing how our stories intertwine as God’s story of grace and redemption is told. What an awesome journey we are all on together! Psalm 107:2 encourages the redeemed ones to “tell their story.” It helps give others a sense of hope. I often tell how God changed my life from one of abuse and brokenness to one of healing and wholeness…of beauty for ashes. He turned my mess into a message of hope, not only for me but for the countless others who hear my story and begin to trust and believe that God can do the same for them. That’s the case with so many of the friends and partners of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Thanks to you, as you’ve received healing and wholeness, or even in your process of healing, you have reached out to help someone else be made whole as well. It’s all about watching God’s story continue to unfold as every life connects with the next when paths cross. I hope you’ve been encouraged as you’ve read through this report of the past year. We want you to know that your story is intertwined in everything you see—every feeding program, every disaster relief effort, every TV and radio broadcast—everything. Your support helps make it all happen. Thank you so much for helping us to keep sharing Christ and loving people. As the story goes on,
