How to network? Why not try out the "M.E.H" model or gambit? Using the word "meh" as an acrostic, consider...
M: Meeting up with others. Fan from the inside out. Go through your Rolodex and reactivate dormant relationships. Ask mates in your circles to make introductions for you. Be more outgoing and possibly join clubs, societies and communities which speak to your interests and values.
E: Entertain others. How? Allow the other party to do the talking. Listen, learn, observe. Do not seek to impress them, but rather, seek to be impressed by them.
H: Honor and help them out. Now that you entertained others, you likely learned what made them tick. Aid them. Perhaps you know someone they should meet, or a nifty resource/tool they may use. By aiming to help them out, they will feel honored by the generous gesture(s), resulting in stronger bonds and support.
