Social equity key to success

By Chrispen Muyeche “Your relations with other people is the surest and greatest single medium that can propel you towards the earliest fulfilment of your dreams In every aspect of life, your ability to ignite, nurture and sustain good human relations is a key ingredient in the advancement of your purpose and fulfilment of your aspirations. Your ability to maintain great relations with others is the greatest single medium than can propel you towards the earliest realisation of your dreams and aspirations. I refer to this as the concept of social equity.

In its true sense, your relations with people, across gender, ethnic and religious divides, is a form of capital or reserve from which your business, your career and your personal goals can meaningfully draw immense benefit and progression. People have the power to connect you to resources, unveil opportunities and open up your mind to new views and schools of thought that, in your naturally limited scope, were seemingly unobserved and hidden. Organisations are controlled by people, key decisions are made by people, it is people who hire and fire, grant and deny.

Unquestionably so, once you find your way with people you can undoubtedly and exponentially progress in your business and in your career. Realise that it is meaningless to always seek to be better than others in every aspect of life. True dreamers seek to inspire others to fulfill their own dreams.

Accept that you will find other people who are better than you in executing certain tasks and that you will tremendously benefit if you work with these great men and women rather than working against them. By managing to sustain a good social equity balance, you provide for yourself and for your dreams, a comfortable cushion on which you can fall back when a rainy day comes — and I assure you, it will. It is your responsibility, and in your best interest, to sustain and maintain good people relations, but note that this is not always easy for it requires a great sense of awareness, vigilance and selflessness.

There are key behavioural traits that you shall need to master and employ for you to ignite, develop and sustain a favourable social equity figure. For you to obtain benefit from the principles here outlined, you shall need to put them to the test and apply them in your daily life. See the good in others

The safest and quickest way to find good associates, networks and friendships, is to be a good friend yourself. Society has a tendency of giving back to us what we give to it. If you were to write down a list of the good qualities that you want others to see and admire in you, what composition would that be made up of? For me, qualities like loving, caring, visionary, creative, determined and inspired quickly come to mind. Before you emphasise the good in yourself, make it your culture to see and admire the good in others.

There are numerous other dreamers who have fought against intricate circumstances and have come out victorious. Victory is not new to this world, so refuse the temptation to think that goodness can only be originated by you. We are only able to propel our dreams to the extent to which we respect what is admirable in others.

In fact, by seeing the good in others, we indirectly compel them to admire the goodness in ourselves. Society gives that it receives. Do not feel greedy with your complements, gratitude and congratulations for others. It does you no harm to acknowledge goodness and it greatly increases your social equity balance.

People want to hear good spoken into their lives and so the more you speak good things about others, the more they are drawn towards you. Keep your word

One evil that can see your social equity balance suffering unbearable damage is your consistent failure to keep your word. People should be able to believe you every time to say something. Make it your mission to be synonymous to integrity and not to only appear to be a person of

integrity without walking the long mile of its implementation. Clothe yourself with the finest piece of moral fabric. You shall advance, in you line of work, exponentially when people feel that they can rely on you and that they do not have any reason to doubt what you say or question the moral purity and sanctity of your intentions.

This is not easy, we often fall to the bad habit of promising more than we can deliver in order to appear more marketable. This only causes a great decay in our relations with others as well as in our belief in our own selves.

As a starting point, endeavour to tell the truth even when you fear that it may adversely affect how society sees you or your business. The adversity of a spoken truth is by far much better than the temporary benefits of a misrepresentation. Do not be tempted to say things to please people for you will find yourself in catchy circumstances. You may end up misusing and abusing your resources, financial and non-financial in order to keep up with the effects of your untruthfulness.

From my own experiences and perhaps from yours as well, an untruthful utterance has the effect of birthing one or more of its own. Never say YES when you mean NO. Protect your reputation by always exposing the true state of things. The truth will always protect and propel you in an unimaginable manner. Manage conflict

Conflict, like friction in any industrial site, has a tendency of popping its unpleasant head in every facet of society. Your ability to MANAGE and resolve conflict as a dreamer and visionary is a key ability that you shall have to master in order to maintain a good and favourable social standing.

Your first step in managing conflict should be to try and avoid it. Do not say or act in a manner that may be regarded as hurtful or provocative by others. - Chrispen Muyeche is a new-generation entrepreneur in the field of organisational training and people development.
