PART II 27 JUNE 2025 NOMINATE
TATTERSALLS IRELAND DERBY SALE
The Derby Sale has produced the top priced Store every year since it’s inception in 1974.
The DERBY SALE is unique.
As Ireland’s Premier Store sale, the Derby Sale has stood the test of time. It presents the cream of stores from Ireland and the UK, and vendors and consignors can have the utmost confidence in Tattersalls Ireland’s proven track record to attract buyers whose budgets allow them target various levels of the market.
Statistics illustrate the Derby Sale to have produced the highest average over the last three-year, five-year, and ten-year period.
The Derby Sale has had the honour of producing the top priced store sold at any Store sale for the past 50 years. The 50th edition witnessed a son of Doctor Dino, consigned by Sluggara Farm and from an illustrious family of Grade 1 winners, purchased by Gordon Elliott Racing for a phenomenal €350,000. This exemplifies how our Derby Sale clients are willing to extend their purse strings to obtain quality stores. There is no doubt that if the individual ticks all boxes, the vendor will be rewarded accordingly.
these alterations will add an extra dimension and freshness to what are three of the most highly anticipated days in the bloodstock calendar.
The team at Tattersalls Ireland are proud of what the Derby Sale stands for, and our goal is to justify that to the outside world. The sale is positioned as the leading source of Grade 1 winners under National Hunt rules. In total the Derby Sale has been the source of nine Cheltenham Gold Cup winners, eight Queen Mother Champion Chase winners, and six Grand National winners. No other National Hunt sale can boast of such an enviable record, and we look forward to adding to the illustrious roll of honour across National Hunt racing’s showpiece events over the coming years.
“The 2025 edition of the Derby Sale will see the reintroduction of a third day, Part II. Additionally, we are excited that two-year-old Stores will now feature in the main catalogue”
The 2025 edition of the Derby Sale will see the reintroduction of a third day, Part II. Additionally, we are excited that two-year-old Stores will now feature in the main catalogue. These amendments reflect the changing nature of the industry, and we are confident
Our team of inspectors are fully committed to securing the best stores across Ireland and UK, and formulating a catalogue that purchasers expect from a Derby Sale. Many of those returning will have passed through the Tattersalls Ireland sales ring as foals in November 2022, and we look forward to our foal sale purchasers reaping the rewards as consignors in June 2025.
