Where Your Dues Go
The TLW receives $125 of your annual dues, whereas the remainder stays with your local league. The amount of dues that local leagues charge varies from $0 to $50 annually. The breakdown of the $125 that goes to the TLW is as follows:
$67.50 stays with the TLW to pay for:
• A headquarters office building in Madison.
• A toll-free 800 number to keep you in contact with the Madison office staff and our lobbyist.
• A monthly TLW newsletter to keep you abreast of legislative issues facing our industry, details of events and activities going on within the organization, as well as a calendar of events.
• On Premise, which is published six times a year, the official publication of the TLW that keeps you up to date on the latest happenings in your association and your industry.
The remainder of your annual dues:
• $27.50 employs a full-time government affairs director (or lobbyist) to represent legislative issues facing us in the state Capitol. (It is non-deductible as a business expense.) • $18.75 is for your membership in American Beverage
Licensees (ABL), which employs a lobbyist and full-time staff in Washington, D.C., and provides timely legislative updates.
• $11.25 is used for public relations using various media outlets to educate the public and enhance the image of our industry.
By joining the TLW, you are investing in your business as well as your livelihood. Membership in your trade association allows you to accomplish together that which you cannot accomplish alone. $11.25
