For the design of it, we have take into account Passive climate systems in a 95% of the whole project, and 5% of Active ones. The criteria was to create a comfortable house for every season, controlling the resources and adapting the hose behavior for every moment of the year. The spaces are located in average positions where the sun is going to light indirectly during the whole day.
General Section and Cross Ventilation Orientation: The house areas follow the sun track, so each one of the activities developed inside of the house, will receive the accurate amount of sun depending on the location of it, and the average time that the activities will use along the day.
1. The hot surface of the roof, heat the air, which goes up, producing convection air currents that suck the air from inside the house, improving the cross ventilation.
2. The gravel roofing, with high thermal inertia, stores cool air at night and releases it during the day, keeping the house cold.
Geometry: the shape of the house as we said, follows the track of the sun, so the volumes are distributed in order to get a better orientation, to Absorb the sun light they need.
2. The upper windows are opened so hot air can escape.
3. The solar shading protects the house form direct solar radiation. So we get indirect light form south. 31º
Cross ventilation: The roofing geometry is curved to evacuate the heat and produce cross ventilation, improve the behavior of the house at hottest seasons. Sun control and Covering protection. We have a system of coverings elements to protect the south walls, in order to reduce the heat absorbed at summer time but, increase it at winter.

4. Cool air flows through the house, cooling it down.
5. The house cools down at night and owing it high thermal inertia, 7. The hot air inside the house is sucked up and remains cool through the following day without consuming any escapes. As it cools the house, the air heats up Sustainable housing project energy. The cool air form the north side of the house penetrates into and rises. To control the radiation amount, and avoid the use of blinds, we have place sun shelters at south facade, that at the same time are used to heat water. It runs through a system of pipes inside of the structure, that feed a tank where the hot water is collected, for sanitary use. At east facades we have integrated a system of green gabions, where plants can grow, to improve the quality of the air at this area. At south facades white bricks helps us to reduce the temperature, reflecting the sun rays.

consTRUCTION DEVELOPING
“Primary forms are beautiful forms, as they have a clear reading.” Le Corbusier
Shelter vivac This Project is located in Pyrenees and it is though for mountaineers. That means the project has to accomplish some specific requirements. The programme or zoning of the shelter is a kitchen, a storage area, living room and resting room. In addition another technical requirements are needed for example light and energy. All the construction process has been though with premade materials and due to the topography and location of the shelter all the parts have to be able to been transported by helicopter and build in less than a day which made the design process really specific and complex. The structure is made by 12 wood arcs for the biggest dome and with 6 for the smallest one in order to create a compression system. In the big one there is a skyline that provides light and ventilation. To achieve energy a solar panel is placed in the smallest dome faced to the south with the optimum inclination, 36 degrees. In addition to get a high isolation a special material used for boats was selected: polynum. In addition to make visible the shelter from far distance a red colour is used in the biggest dome to contrast with the white snow that covers the area most of the year, helping the mountaineers to locate the refuge.

URBAN PLANNING
pau ii This area is located in Alicante and has an irregular topography. It used to be an almost empty area with a really irregular topography. The problems with this part of the city were the disconnection with the rest of the area and the lack of residences. The main idea is take advantadge of the views’s area and introduce a structure road connect to the rest of the city. First ideas are: -Connecting green areas -Respect schools, and publics buildings ( in red) -Building in gap areas -Studying the growth area To achieve all the the goals a new bycicle and pedestrian network is developed in order to connect the whole area with the rest ot the city. Since the area has been mostly occuped by public spaces and buldings it was neccesary to keep this idea of public area by designing a kind of house block with a public space in the ground floor and residential use in the rest of the floors To make continue the green areas of the city a big green space is proposed as an axis of the neighbordhood occuped by urban gardens and urban orches, so it is not just a green area but also a place where neighbours can meet and develop and idea of community.

FLOWER SQUARE
Architect’s work has changed. Our system too, that’s reason why an architect has to show the benefits and the necessity of their job. This is the context where the Flower Square has been developed improving the reality, the social reality of a city. In this specific context Tardeo activity -which is a meeting of many people in the square on Saturday morning to take “tapas and cañas (beer)”- gave us the opportunity to take advantage of a polemic situation by developing a real project that really can improve the situation between the different agents. In one hand the bars, and the Central Market are getting an economic benefit of Tardeo activity increasing their business by selling tapas and beers, the star product of Tardeo, in the other hand the neighbours have to suffer the consequences of this activity in their square: the bad management of waste.
This project is not just about public furniture, but also about waste management, about recycling. So the challenge was to design something that really could work in the square as public furniture and at the same time to be able to manage all the glass bottles produced during Tardeo activity, all of this without creating new waste. That was reason why the entire project was developed with cardboard tubes given by a private company to avoid new waste material and to allow working with a really cheap budget. Actually, the budget of the project for the city and for the citizens was zero Euros due to all the materials were given by different private companies and build by ourselves. The difficulties of the project were the design, which had to accomplish many requirements, the construction which was totally in our hands but also the management of the existing resources. It was absolutely necessary to make a studio of the different modules in order to show the benefits in waste management they could offer. It was possible to check and to show the successful of the project not just by the acceptance of the users but also for the level of cleanness in the square after the opening day.

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
“You can’t really say what is beautiful about a place, but the image of the place will remain vividly with you.”Tadao Ando
orgegia
“Orgegia hills is an area in Alicante with a natural park which has beautiful views and landscape. However, this area has been abandoned a long time ago. This project pretends to rehabilitate the territory by using and enhancig the natural resources of the are which are: -bee-keeping -livestock -forestry -agriculture -horse ranches These five comunities will create a small economical system in the area which allow for the rehabilitation of the territory and the creation of related activities in order to create a touristic area.
All of the products obtained in the area such as vegetables, honey, milk, cheese, etc will be sold in markets created in the territory. The whole system will be self-managed by the citizens, taking the idea of cooperative urbanism to its limits. Part of the money made in the area will be for the cititzens, while the other part will be for the maintenance of the infrastructures.
In addition, other activities are related to the project such a bike riding, horse riding and taking a stroll thats why it was really important to develop all the econimical activities respecting and improving the landscape of the territory. This was made from two different scales: one, the human scale,by creating paths all around the area with differnt textures, and the other, the territory scale so it is posible to create also beautiful landscape to be enjoyed from the top of the natural park which allows to see the area from 360ยบ As we can see in the draw of the right the pink areas represent the aromatic flowers situated around preexisting buldings in the territory, and the green spots are the areas intended to orches.
As we can se in the three draws the bike routes, and the paths are always integrated in the several uses of the ground.

FALA EXIBITION
For this project an adaptable prototype was required. It will be used to present the work of different artists, and painters. In essence, it was an exhitibion for books, however those books were really special due to the fact that they did not correspond with the standard idea of a book. Some of them were too big and had to be presented in vertical or in an unusual way.
Once the design was defined, it was really important to decide how the unfolding of the prototype was going to be in order to save the maximum amount of material, in this case, cardboard, and to achieve an easy attachment. Also the tolerance limits of the cardboard had to be taken into account in order to draw the plans.
The room for the exhitibion was covered by dark, black marble which made the election of the colour really easy. These conditions made the design of the prototype more complicated due to the fact that an adaptable surface was All the prototypes were white so a landscape could be created with the reflection of the floor. required in order to allow the artist some freedom to present their work. The design had to be simple, so the books were the main focus of attention, and allow the artist to present the books in an adaptable way. Two kinds of prototypes were created: one completely flat, and the other with different inclinations so that the books can be presented in a vertical position. Every artist would have at least three modules to present all the books and the modules could be placed in many positions because of the shape of the prototypes: a hexagon

TARDEO YOURSELF WHAT Tardeo’s Project is the answer to the necessity of a waste management generated in Plaza del 25 de mayo due to a new activity that happens on Saturday mornings, Tardeo. Tardeo is a big meeting of people drinking and eating in front of Central Market. These people buy food and drinks from the stores inside the market. WHERE This activity is developed mainly in Plaza del 25 de mayo, next to the Central Market. This project plans to make Tardeo something positive for the city and spread the Tardeo activity to other places around the square. Strategies 1. Activities, MAKE IT DIFFERENT There are some activities happening already in the square like birthday parties, stag/hen parties and lunches (data collected in Phase 3a, Interviews). The idea is to strengthen these activities through new furniture that make possible new situations. How Designing furniture that makes possible these activities and creating a platform to create events every Saturday. The most important characteristics for this prototype are: - To create an space - Easy to move - Comfort It is also necessary to think what will happen when there is not any event, so this prototype has to be also ADAPTABLE for other activities. 2. Comfort, FEEL AT HOME Apart from the price is also how we feel in a place and

the reason why we come back. This project is not just about waste management; it is also about the Tardeo as an activity in itself. How Designing a furniture which most important quality is the comfort making people feel in a really relax place. Other important characteristics are the easy movement and the mix of various groups of people in the square. 3. Spread, TARDEO YOURSELF Making Tardeo something positive as a new activity with many benefits could work in Alicante as a new kind of tourism or social activity, bringing all the positive concepts around the city. How This prototype has to be really easy to transport for a person, so it can be used in wherever place of the city. It has to be comfort furniture and at the same time working as a waste collected. The main issue about the design it will be how to carry it. Benefits: - Social: A new activity is generated in the city as something that just happens in Alicante creating a new IDENTITY. As a something new and unique is attractive for people, at the same time the furniture in itself it will become a brand related to Tardeo. - Cultural: Making waste management part of the activity in itself make people awareness about RECICLYING. The waste that we generate is managed by ourselves because the prototype are prepared for that making easy to keep everything clean. - Economic: A new BUSINESS is created making the project auto-management and improving the trade in Central Market. This business can help local bars and florists advertise their products and attract a larger consumer crowd. Additionally, Tardeo will draw in a big group of people who will have the opportunity to attend the local florists and bars. By advertising for the local shops, people will be more inclined to shop in them which will result in more customers, a higher demand for products, a demand for a larger workforce, and essentially a more active economy.
STRATEGY 1: MAKE IT DIFFERENT! TARGET - EASY TO MOVE - COLLECT WASTE - BE COMFORTABLE - IMPROVE CENTRAL MARKET ECONOMY
WHY WOULD PEOPLE USE IT? - THIS ACTIVITIES ARE ALREADY HAPPENING IN THE CENTRAL MARKET SQUARE - THEY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN GOOD CONDITIONS - THEY HAVE OFFERS AND DISCOUNTS IN FOOD AND DRINKS
STRATEGY 2: FEEL AT HOME! TARGET - EASY TO MOVE - COLLECT WASTE - BE COMFORTABLE - IMPROVE TARDEO ACTIVITY
WHY WOULD PEOPLE USE IT? - FURNITURE IS NECESSARY IN THE SQUARE - IT WILL BE AN EXTRA VALUE IN TARDEO - IT WILL BE COMFORTABLE - IT WILL BE FREE
STRATEGY 3: TARDEO YOURSELF! TARGET - EASY TO CARRY - COLLECT WASTE - BE COMFORTABLE - IMPROVE CENTRAL MARKET ECONOMY - SPREAD THE TARDEO POSITIVE CONCEPT
WHY WOULD PEOPLE USE IT? - EASY TO CARRY - YOU CAN USE IN WHATEVER PLACE - THEY HAVE OFFERS AND DISCOUNTS IN FOOD AND DRINKS - YOU DONT NEED SPACE AT HOME TO KEEP IT

- Environmental: The image of the Tardeo is positive, is clean. This idea is spread all around the city, which will be a new CLEAN CITY (Monkey see, monkey do). All the prototypes are prepared to recycle and the 25 de mayo square becomes a new recycling point for the city. According to “The Broken Window Theory”, Tardeo will spread the NEW CLEAN CITY concept throughout Alicante similarly to how New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani rid New York City transit department of graffiti and crime.

PROTOTYPING (II)
TARDEO IS OURS OBJECTIVE The goal of this design is to successfully change the concept of Tardeo activity to be more than just a spontaneous and social activity and to get an equal use of the square the whole week. One of the most powerful controversies I found in Plaza del 25 de Mayo is that councils are allowing Tardeo activity to be developed in the square even though it is not legal. Tardeo users are treating the square every Saturday as if the square belongs to them. The idea is to expand this concept by using the square the whole week and at the same time relate Tardeo to social and cultural activities in order to give Tardeo a new image (a conceptual one) for the citizens. A) STRATEGIES 1. NOT THAT COOL (BAD IMAGE OF TARDEO) Tardeo as an activity has a negative image due to the consequences it has on the public space. After Tardeo, the whole central market square has plenty of glass bottles and cardboard dishes generating a dirty and negative image of the square. The main affected agents are the neighbours. The deal will be to change Tardeo concept by: 1. Management of the waste generated by Tardeo 2. Relating this activity to eco-activities and to child-activities.

2. THE FORGOTTEN (FLOWER STORES ARE NOT INVOLVED IN TARDEO) Flower stores have experienced a decrease in trade due to Tardeo activity. A crowded square doesn’t allow proper visibility of the flower stores and makes it more difficult to develop the business activity. The deal will be to give an economic benefit to flower stores by: Giving them more visibility Giving them a better position in the square By guarantee customs 3. BE EQUAL (USE INTENSITY) The square has a lot of activity Saturday morning during the time Tardeo is happening. However, the rest of the week the square is not very active and these activities (sit down, take a coffe…) don’t have the importance and the intensity as Tardeo does. The objective will be to use Tardeo as a spark to revitalise the public space, not by giving them public furniture, but by including real activities in the square (more than just to sit). The deal will be to use the public space as a skater, parkour, and/or a place for kids, making the square ours. The main strategy will be to include activities for kids. 4. THE AFFECTED (NEIGHBOURS COMPLAIN ABOUT TARDEO) Neighbours are affected by all the waste and rubbish generated by Tardeo. The main objective will

not just be to give them a reason to like Tardeo, but to promise them a clean square by giving them: 1. The chance to start an economical activity 2. Kids activities 5. SIT DOWN AND RECYCLE (LACK OF FURNITURE AND CONTAINERS FOR TARDEO) The main problem in Tardeo activity is the lack of furniture where people can sit or leave plates and bottles. Most importantly, the square is not prepared to manage all the waste produced by this activity. A proper design to solve this problem will be needed. FLOWER-TRASH AGENTS: Flower stores + Users DESCRIPTION: It is a flower store where you can throw out your glass bottles and cardboards. The idea is to guarantee customers for the flower stores by making users have to go there in order to throw out their rubbish. BENEFITS: a) Economical: Flower stores are getting an economical benefit by having the chance to develop this kind of new business in a better position on the square. b) Environmental: The designs of the containers included in the façade are made to force you to separate the different kinds of waste. c) Cultural: A recycling point is designed in Tardeo activity so that people will get used to separate their rubbish (at least in Tardeo activity). – FLOWERTRASH+KIDS+TARDEO How does it work? Kids will be able to use trolleys to collect all the necessary resources for the workshop from Flowertrash. They will ask people in Tardeo to recycle so that they can continue doing their projects.
TARDEOLAND AGENTS: Kids + Users DESCRIPTION: It is a workshop for kids where they can work on arts and crafts projects using different kinds of waste as a material. This waste can be collected in Tardeo, in the Ecopoint, or in Flower-trash. Kids will be the ones making the furniture for Tardeo, using cardboard. BENEFITS: a) Environmental: It will be a way to collect waste, to reuse it, and finally if it is necessary, to recycle it. b) Cultural: Kids are learning the importance of recycling and reusing rubbish. c) Social: Kids activities are included in the square making the neighbours richer and including other kinds of profiles in Tardeo. – TARDEOLAND+TARDEO How does it work? Kids will be the responsible for making the Tardeo furniture as part of the workshop. Then, on Saturday morning, they will deliver it to the users of Tardeo.
FLOWERLAND AGENTS: Flower stores + Kids + Users + Neighbours DESCRIPTION: It is a flower store for kids where they can buy, by themselves, all the necessary resources to grow a plant (seed, sand, vitamins…). The design is developed to suit kids (high of the bar, colours, information given…) BENEFITS: a) Economical: Flower stores are getting an economical benefit by having the chance to develop this kind of new business and have a better position in the square. b) Environmental: “Children projects” will be part of the square in the future making the square a little bit more green. c) Cultural: Kids are learning the benefits of plants and that public furniture is made by us for us. d) Social: Kids activities are included in the square making the neighbourhood richer and including other kinds of profiles in Tardeo. – FLOWERLAND+KIDS+TIME How does it work? As explained before, kids can buy all the necessary resources to grow plants in Flowerland. They can use a trolley to create their own garden and take care of it with other children.
