CARDIO PULMONARY EXCERCISE
SYSTEM UPDATE We are delighted to announce that, thanks to your help, we have managed to raise the £47,000 needed to purchase a Cardio Pulmonary Exercise System for the hospital. The system will help to assess and monitor children suffering from a wide range of breathing disorders including Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma and other life-threatening debilitating respiratory illnesses. Head Resourcing organised a Decathlon of events with funds raised going towards the system and managed to raise over £8,000 over the course of a month. We are most grateful to them, the guests at our Girly Get Together and everyone else who contributed to this piece of equipment.
NEXT PROJECT CHANGING FACES Our next project is to raise £31,000 to fund a unique position at the hospital, the first of its kind in the UK. By funding such a post, children and families will receive support when there is a facial disfigurement. This may be due to burns, cleft lip and palette, plastic surgery or a dermatological problem. The Changing Faces practitioner will support the family through difficult times and decisions; in some cases surgery is the initial preferred option of families, but sometimes with support from the practitioner there is no need for such drastic action. Working together, strategies for coping with the difficulties which such conditions give rise to can be worked out. For more information on this and all our other current projects, please visit our website or get in touch with Will directly; his contact details are on page 4.

Here’s what they had to say about the partnership in 2011: "The Sick Kids Foundation makes supporting this charity seem 'easy and effortless', the fact that we were allocated a local representative (Will Guest) means that we are regularly updated with upcoming events, initiatives and new fundraising ideas which really encourage us to get further involved. Will took the time to establish the goals of our business area to help build a mutually beneficial relationship where it was not only about delivering the desired benefits for the charity but also ensured that we were able to achieve our own goals from a morale and team building perspective."
