WOLF KAHN Wolf Kahn is internationally recognized for his masterful combination of Realism and Color Field painting. Influenced by Mark Rothko, Henri Matisse and Giorgio Morandi, Kahn’s signature work features forests and farmlands, emphasizing the vibrant tonalities of light and color. Born in Germany in 1927 and fleeing to England during World War II, Kahn emigrated with his family to New York City. He studied under the seminal Abstract Expressionist Hans Hofmann, eventually becoming his studio assistant. Although Kahn’s artistic practice developed while immersed in Abstract Expressionism, he departed from his contemporaries by incorporating landscape into his painting.
