Selim Mouzannar is a man full of life. His fine jewelry line is rooted in his deep passion and knowledge of stones as well as his creative desire to create beauty. Based in Beirut, Lebanon, Mouzannar comes from a family of jewelers who has supplied the Ottoman Empire since the 19th century. Encased in history and culture, Mouzannar’s work illuminates the beauty of Beirut’s elegant, effortless style.

When he talks about his jewelry, Selim Mouzannar prefers to speak about imagination rather than about creation. By watching him work, one can understand that his time spent working in the studio is a pleasure that he snatches from his perpetually busy life. He studied mineralogy in France and Belgium, and his knowledge is palpable as you watch him work with stunning, one of a kind gemstones.

WORKSHOP

From his workshop, a place that acts as a laboratory in the Achrafieh neighborhood, Selim conveys a refreshing joie de vivre. In his workshop, he experiments with new stones, new sizes, and new materials. Using enamel, an antique Mediterranean artisans material, Selim has developed a sophisticated sensibility that is both playful and elegant. The workshop’s design is fresh and modern.

Its elements have been culled from Selim’s passion for the Ottoman and art deco architecture in Beirut, as well as the fertile blend of the Mediterranean culture that merges with traces of the colonial French presence.

llstana, The Sublime Porte. Behind it lies all of the terrestrial power of the ancient Coman Empire, and above it, the celestial vault and its myriad stars- multiplied by their reflection in the sea.

The star, with five or seven branches, worked outward and encrusted with precious stones, is the city’s true talisman. A reference for the seafarers, it symbolizes success, the will to follow, and self-confidence.

The seven point star features a unique combination of an intensely deep mauve-pink tourmaline, set in the sparkling tones of ParaĂ­ba lagoon blue.

In the Istanbul Collection, rose-cut diamonds twinkle in a stunning shower of stars- bouquets of light to wear as earrings, rings, or a necklace.

The Beruit Collection is recognized by its chiseled frames- replicas of Beirut’s distinctive architecture on which colored gems that trap the light are set- like stained glass in a small cathedral.
