Entrepreneurial Spirit

Taylor Corporation’s story begins in 1959 when Glen Taylor was looking for a way to support his family while he went to school to become a teacher. Bill Carlson, owner of Carlson Wedding Services, offered him a job. Taylor loved a challenge, had ideas to make things better and the drive to get things done. Listening to what his customers wanted, he developed new ways to cut delivery times, improve service and expand the company’s product offerings.

Within ten years, Taylor helped double the size of Carlson Craft. During this time he was able to buy a minority share of the business and began making plans to someday buy the company.

Taylor purchased Carlson Wedding Service in 1975 — as the foundation for what would become Taylor Corporation. Throughout the years, Glen has expanded the firm’s capabilities and has continued to build a passionate leadership team led by Charlie Whitaker, CEO.
