Mother admits fatal stabbing of her five-year-old son Tyler By George Welch A MOTHER has admitted stabbing her five-year-old son to death. Emma Jackson, of Bromsgrove, Faringdon pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility on Friday. The 41-year-old was in court following the fatal stabbing of Tyler Warmington at the house in Bromsgrove Cottages, Faringdon on March 14 last year. She denied murder and the Crown
Prosecution Service accepted her guilty plea of manslaughter by diminished responsibility. Tyler died from multiple stab wounds to the chest, a post-mortem examination revealed shortly after his death. Prosecutor Alan Blake said at Oxford Crown Court last week that, after obtaining psychiatric reports, the CPS decided there was ‘not a realistic prospect of conviction’ on the charge of murder. Jackson was remanded in custody
under the care of Littlemore Mental Health Centre by Judge Ian Pringle. Psychiatric evidence from her doctors will be obtained and prepared before her sentencing at the same court on April 20.w Coroner Darren Salter said at Tyler’s inquest last April that police officers attended the boy’s home after staff at his school, Faringdon Primary School, contacted them. A row of flowers, condolence messages and soft toys decorated the edge of the police cordon as residents
paid their respects. Many people paid tribute to Tyler, who was described as a ‘beautiful’ and ‘well-liked’ little boy. His then-headteacher Laura White was one of those to pay tribute. She said: “Tyler was a lively, happy little boy who particularly enjoyed building things and running around with his friends outside. He will be missed by all at our school.” Resident Karen Draper also said at the time: “News like this is just devastating to a community and will
have a resounding effect for a long time to come. We should all be very proud of our community spirit. We have many reasons to take great pride in our little town. R.I.P little man.” Following Jackson’s conviction last week another resident, Monique Gale, who lives ‘just up the road’ from the scene of the crime, said: “[It] still sends shivers down me every time I drive past.” [sic] Jackson was arrested the same day as Tyler’s death and was charged on October 10 last year.
