TOWNS in South Oxfordshire are preparing for their Remembrance Day commemorations on br Sunday, with Abingdon, Didcot, Su Wantage and Wallingford all Wa holding parades. ho IIn Abingdon, a civic procession with mayor Samantha Bowring wi and members of the town council will leave the Guildhall at 9.50am, headed by Abingdon Town Band. They will proceed towards St Helen’s Church for a service starting at 10am. Following the service, dignitaries and the public will gather at the War Memorial for 11am, where two minutes silence will be observed. Cllr Bowring said: “It’s a very moving service so it’s an honour. I’m representing the town so it’s important that I do that well. “Personally I think [commemorating Remembrance Day] is important. Troops from the 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment, based at Vauxhall Barracks, will parade down the Broadway to the civic hall where the remembrance service will be held.
