WANTAGE and Grove companies are set to compete against eac each other to see who indeed is the best in the business. The 2013 Local Business T Awards will give residents the Aw chance to vote in four categocha ries, with the winners set to be ries ann announced in two weeks. Businesses will go head-toB head in four categories – best hea pub, best restaurant, best kept shop front or window and exceptional customer service. The initiative is part of the town’s vitality project, and is being supported by Wantage and District’s Chamber of Commerce. Chamber president, John Naish, said: “The energy, enthusiasm and trade and product knowledge of our retailers, pubs and restaurants and other town and village centre businesses are a huge part of the ongoing vitality of the Wantage and Grove economy. It’s great to recognise the very best, and to give their customers the opportunity to custo have a say.” The winners will be announced on De December 6, and the awards will be b presented the following

day – the fi rst ‘Small Business Saturday’ across the UK – at the Wantage Community Space on Mill Street. Wantage Mayor, Councillor Fiona Roper, said: “Market towns rely on their independent traders to attract visitors, because of their individual charm and specialist knowledge. Wantage and Grove have a range of great shops, pubs and restaurants, and town and village centre businesses, and these awards recognise the high level of customer service and care they offer.” The four winners will receive a £50 voucher to spend with a Wantage or Grove-based business of their choice. And people who complete the questionnaire, available from Wantage Civic Hall or via www. wantageandgroveloyalty.co.uk, will go into a draw for the same prize. Town Team co-ordinator Mim Norvell said it was the fi rst in a series of business celebration competitions and events planned for the area.
