Why Studio+? We balance big ideas and budgets. Expertise Our studios are focused on the design of healthcare facilities, and our people are passionate about creating the best possible solutions in the development of environments for healing and wellness. Unlike other specialties within the profession of architecture, healthcare design requires a high level of dedication, knowledge, evidence-based decision making. Our people understand this rigor and discipline.
We listen In our approach to design, we seek first to understand your functional needs. We will strive “to walk in your shoes”, read between the lines, and on occasion, we may challenge long established ways of doing things or assumptions. We will also perform careful due diligence of existing facility conditions.

Healthcare
City of Hope Women’s Cancer Center Duarte, CA
Project Data Size: 12,000 square feet Client: City of Hope Cost: $3.5 million
Maintaining patients’ humanity throughout cancer treatment with a high-end touch. This cancer center is designed for pioneers in women’s cancer care. City of Hope is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leaders in the prevention and treatment of women’s cancers. The facility was collaboratively designed to facilitate some of the most technically complex outpatient procedures of nationally renowned physicians. The warm, comforting design provides a new centralized hub for treatment. The circulation of cancer patients was disjointed and decentralized prior to the design of this facility. Transportation between departments was cumbersome for patients dealing with a great deal of pain and discomfort. The centralized center for care reduces the pain, stress, and anxiety associated with treatment. The Women’s Positive Image Center cares for the deeply human needs of patients. The Positive Image Center provides cancer patients with a luxurious, spa-like experience in between treatment sessions. Staff cosmetologists work with patients to provide tips, beauty products, and medication for proper skin care and hair loss prevention.
UNOVA Health Clinic Lady Lake, Florida
Project Data Size: 26,540 square feet Client: UNOVA Orthopaedics Cost: Undisclosed
Creating a one-stop destination balancing contemporary design language and process excellence. Studio+ designed UNOVA’s lean delivery method, brand, and facility. UNOVA’s owners and end users engaged the Studio+ design team in Big Room design sessions to design much more than a building—its delivery method was designed using rapid cardboard prototyping, its brand was collaboratively developed with the Studio+ Brand Design studio, and its architectural language was collaboratively developed to unify interior, exterior, and environmental design. The flagship UNOVA Health Clinic features contemplative, contemporary design. Studio+ was tasked with creating a modern design with a front elevation that communicates the principles of the UNOVA brand—contemplation, forward-thinking, contemporary, and regenerative. The envelope and interior design equally reflect the technologically superior approach to orthopedic medical care offered by the facility.
Lee Health Surfside Clinic & Continuing Services Cape Coral, Florida
Project Data Size: Surfside Clinic: 27,000 square feet / Continuing Services: Undisclosed square feet Client: Lee Health Cost: Surfside Clinic: $7.2 million / Continuing Services: Over $20 million
Collaborative Lean design-build team reduces footprint, increases throughput, and delivers continuing services. The Surfside Outpatient Clinic was developed in a full Lean design process. The Big Room housed a project team consisting of physicians, nurses, technicians, architects, builders, and consultants. Design meetings held in the Big Room shortened the schematic design process down to 12 days. Through the Studio+ Process, we collaboratively developed a new delivery model for Lee Health. Cardboard simulations allowed Studio+ to shadow end users and understand their routines. Lean process refinement then lowered the provider-to-room ratio from 3:1 to 2:1, increasing overall patient capacity by 65%. Outside of the outpatient clinic, we work continuously on Lee Health’s acute care projects. In addition to freestanding work such as the Surfside Clinic, Studio+ is also the continuing services architect for Lee Health. All design work under a specific construction cost threshhold is awarded to a dedicated Studio+ team, who have worked on 100+ projects in the past 3 years.
NCH Northeast Freestanding ED Naples, Florida
Project Data Size: 40,000 square feet Client: NCH Healthcare Cost: $13.3 million
A freestanding emergency facility designed and delivered collaboratively in 15 months. The design of this FSED was fast-tracked without losing quality design. The region surrounding the facility lacked a major medical hub for emergency care, so Studio+ wasted no time and implemented a demanding Lean process-driven design methodology to trim months from the design cycle. It brings the relatively new idea of an FSED to a community without proper care. Because the concept of an FSED was new to the system, Studio+ involved the clinicians and technicians to earn buy-in and better tailor workflow to their individual processes. The FSED is now connected to a wide network. The center is now a multi-use facility with a wide variety of inter-connected services provided through adjacent regional hospitals.
NCH North Emergency Department Naples, Florida
Project Data Size: 38,265 square feet Client: NCH Healthcare Cost: $10.2 million
A comprehensive re-imagining of hospital and emergency room services. The emergency department was delivered in 5 phases with wings varying in acuity. During the planning phase, it was determined that the emergency department and surrounding built environments would be specialized in the types of care it would provide patients in Naples. It includes a dedicated pediatric emergency department that remains open 24/7. The Pediatric ED is Naples’ first 24/7 emergency department dedicated to the treatment of children. The wing was donor-funded, and features unique visual storytellings in order to encourage patients to “experience the magic of healing.” The NCH Pediatric ED is an award-winning approach to children’s health. The early phases of the emergency department were featured in various business and healthcare journals, and has additionally won the SANDI Best Healthcare Award from the International Interior Design Association.
NCH Downtown Baker Hospital Naples, Florida
Project Data Size: Multiple projects spanning entire campus Client: NCH Healthcare Cost: Undisclosed
A continuous flow of healthcare facility design and master planning, spanning a wide scope of work and acuity Our work at NCH’s Downtown campus seamlessly blends planning, programming and design. Rather than splitting master planning and design into separate journeys, NCH and Studio+ partnered to actively design and develop the plan into construction phases, which allows for the plan to be further evolved while the hospital continues to grow. The range of our work on the Downtown campus spans scope and acuity. Our project teams practiced design flexibility, as they were challenged to design a vast array of projects—from inpatient oncology to behavioral health units, all the way to laboratories and operating rooms. Our work has unified the functional design and process throughout the hospital. All functions of the hospital were analyzed and challenged in order to best understand adjacencies between services. Departments and services were relocated to optimize patient throughput and increase overall quality of care.

Cleveland Clinic Capital Improvements Weston, FL
Project Data Size: 60,000+ square feet Client: Cleveland Clinic Cost: Undisclosed
A long-lasting relationship to improve campus-wide acute care services The work at Cleveland Clinic includes both outpatient and acute healthcare. Cleveland Clinic’s capital improvement campaign aimed to renovate nearly every aspect of the organization’s healthcare delivery in its primary Florida campus. Nearly all of the work includes full AHCA reviews with a 100% pass rate. 15 projects were successfully navigated through AHCA. A portion of the program involved replacing the existing surgical suites with modernized operating theaters. The expanded surgical units incorporated technological advances in operating equipment, including robotic surgical suites. Our work ultimately unifies brand standards and healthcare delivery in the system. National healthcare organizations have a reputation and a brand to protect. Studio+ worked closely with the client to ensure the architecture and interior design of Cleveland Clinic’s Florida campus flowed cohesively with its facilities around the nation.
Six Benefits of Teaming with Studio+ We’re local to Florida. With studios in Tampa and Fort Myers, we have quick and easy access to any healthcare facility in the State of Florida. We also understand local jurisdictions including AHCA, and are able to navigate the complexities of healthcare and senior living specific to Florida.
We’ve got a wide project range, from 0 to 400,000 square feet. There is no constraint to projects we approach—if a project is a 0 square foot equipment replacement or a 400,000 square foot campus, we approach it as an opportunity to transform healthcare.
We live and breathe Lean design and process improvement. Most architecture firms have a Lean department, but few were founded as a Lean Design firm. Since the founding of our company, we’ve instilled Lean culture and values into our team and have practiced and refined Lean architectural processes.
We have a diverse team of experts. Our culture of continuous improvement, mentorship, and big thinking encourages innovation by pairing aggressive young talent with extensively experienced healthcare experts to create a fusion between forward-thinking and evidence-based design.
We believe in design leadership, unifying consultants, builders, and clients. We believe in design leadership. That means at the end of a day, an engineer’s problem is our problem. So we take extra steps to ensure due diligence is practiced and all expectations set forth by clients are met or exceeded by all of the project team.
We believe design can transform lives. We understand budgets, schedules, and regulations, and we endeavor to ensure those expectations are met. But we approach projects with a human-centered perspective. Every nurse station, every patient room, every office—each environment we create, we design it to transform the lives of people.
