By: Taylor Proctor and Sierra Webster Respond, reimagine, reintegrate is a grass roots project that aims to restitch the community and the surrounding neighborhoods in order to create a healthier community. Located within the Jonestown and Washington Hill neighborhoods of Baltimore city, this project focuses on the three major aspects of a healthy community, education, commerce, and community health.

Education The Education zone aims to provide the community with a holistic adult and young adult education experience through the addition of the trade school and a community resource center.

Commerce The Commercial Zone strives to provide retail amenity to the community as well as bring money to the neighborhood. The Commercial Zone is envisioned to provide spaces that are family friendly as well as space for adults and young adults to hangout.

Community Health The Community Health Zone is the part of the proposal that strives to bring the community together through positive activity space and recreation space for both adults and youth. The community health zone also looks to spread health education by incorporating a health clinic.

REUNITE

By: Taylor Proctor and Edward Leedy Re-Unite is an exploratory research design project that implements innovative solutions for low-density urban housing. This project investigates the spatial possibilities of uing a hybrid of two common urban housing typologies, the Rowhouse and the Low-rise Apartment, in order to help solve problems within Baltimore’s suffering communities. By bringing businesses back to the community, economic development can improve and assist in the revitalization of this community.

REIMAGINE

Reimagine is a series of abstract drawings taken from real works of art such as paintings, photographs, and still frames. The objective of this project is to learn to see things differently and to learn to portray the emotion or story of the work of art through a sketch.

Torch Gardens Torch Garden is a hybrid fire station project that strives to combine the base needs of a fire station with community health needs. Located in the Harlem Park and Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood this project looks to alleviate the areas food desert. Through incorporating a farm fresh restaurant, community cooking classes, and an urban garden this project hopes to teach the community and the firefighters about physical and food health while also providing fresh produce and community interaction.

Concept Collage This conceptual collage is a depiction of the projects current site and a representation of the goal of this project. Through artistic expression the collage shows the dilapidation of the projected neighborhood of Harlem Park and Sandtown Winchester. This collage displays the project’s desire to use hybrid program to reconnect the neighborhood with its surrounding communities, build relationships within the community, enhance community enconomics, and create a healthier community by implimenting an urban food forrest to fight the areas food desert. With the collaboration of the areas fire department and healthy living programs this project aims to improve one of Baltimore City’s most under served communities.
