#lovetaylorssc
Dear Church Family, Christmas, from its very inception, has been a season of great expectation. It was true for the people of Israel who were yearning for the Messiah to come – “a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” - and fulfill the long-awaited promises made by the prophets centuries earlier. May it be so for us as well, that the anticipation of Christmas Day brings us to worship Christ because of the grace that has been freely given to us through Him. But there’s great expectation beyond the Christmas season for the Taylors family. At the start of 2018, I’ll begin a sermon series that will point to the person of Jesus in a unique way. I’ll be preaching an overview of the Bible throughout the course of the year. From Genesis to Revelation and from week to week, we’ll trace the thread of the gospel that begins in the Garden of the Eden, becomes visible in the life and death of Jesus, and ends with worship around the throne of God at the end of time. Here’s your part. Using the weekly reading plan as described on the next page, you’ll be able to follow along with the week’s passages. Moms and dads will have a special opportunity and tools to lead their children through an overview of the Bible. D-Groups will be using the same reading plan as well. In all, the entire church body will have an opportunity to walk through the Word of God together in 2018. I’m expecting God to work mightily in and through us in 2018 because He promised His Word “shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Is. 55:11). I can’t wait for us to get started together. May you experience His great grace, peace and joy this Christmas season and Happy New Year.

What is the F260? The F-260 is a two hundred and sixty day reading plan that highlights the foundational passages of Scripture that every disciple should know. It is a manageable plan that believers who have never read the Bible before could complete. n

How Does It Work?
Journals will be available to purchase in the Connection Center mid-December.
The plan expects believers to read 1 or 2 chapters a day for 5 days each week, with an allowance for weekends off. The 2 off-days are built in so you may catch up where you’re unable to read. In order to digest more of the Word, the F-260 encourages believers to read less and to keep a H.E.A.R. journal. See a sample H.E.A.R. entry below.
Memorizing the Word
While many plans for memorizing Scripture are effective, a simple system is usually best. All you need is a pack of index cards and a committed desire to memorize God’s Word. Write the reference of the verse on one side of the card and the text of the verse on the other. Focus on five verses at a time, and carry your pack of Scripture cards with you. Throughout the day, whenever you have a few minutes, pull out your pack of Scripture cards and review them. Read the reference first, followed by the verse. Continue to recite the verse until you get a feel for the flow of the passage. When you are comfortable with the text, look only at the reference side of the card in order to test your recall. Sample H.E.A.R. Entry Read: Philippians 4:10-13 Date: 11-30-13 Title: Secret of Contentment
H ighlight: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 E xplain: Paul was telling the church at Philippi that he has discovered the secret of contentment. No matter the situation in Paul’s life, he realized that Christ was all he needed, and Christ was the one who strengthened him to persevere through difficult times.
A pply: In my life, I will experience many ups and downs. My contentment is not found in circumstances. Rather, it is based on my relationship with Jesus Christ. Only Jesus gives me the strength I need to be content in every circumstance of life.
R espond: Lord Jesus, please help me as I strive to be content in You. Through Your strength, I can make it through any situation I must face. Used with Permission from Replicate Ministries. The Chrismon Tree
Filled with symbolism, the Chrismon Tree located in the Welcome Center paints a portrait of Jesus Christ. Please take a moment to enjoy this special tribute and observe how each decoration is a sign, type, or combination of figures that proclaim the Name, life, and saving acts of Jesus. The WMU Mission Group began creating our Chrismons in 1985, and today, the WMU Global Mission Group decorates the tree, located in the Welcome Center, as a tribute to our Lord. TAYLORSFBC.ORG | 5
LONDON Two years ago we began praying for God’s direction in how Taylors FBC could be involved in the International Mission Board’s "Global Cities Initiative." After many months of praying, we narrowed it down to two global cities, and then after visiting London this past summer, we came to the conclusion that God was leading our church to be involved in reaching London. "London is the most ethnically diverse city in the world. Home to over 270 nationalities and over 300 spoken languages, London offers the opportunity to reach people groups that we could otherwise not reach due to restrictions in their native countries." - James Cartner Truly, the world has come to London. The IMB has developed a "Tube Line Strategy" — no tube line left unreached — to ensure that churches are being planted in every community of London. They have encouraged churches to adopt a tube line and then begin working stop-by-stop along that tube line, whether through local or international partnerships, to see churches planted. God again has been faithful, and we are excited to announce that we have adopted the Piccadilly Line! Taylors First Baptist Church will take responsibility to form partnerships, send teams, and if God wills, to send long-term workers to plant churches at each stop along the Piccadilly Line. We will begin this summer with our first REACH Team who will partner with an IMB couple to begin prayer walking and reaching the community at Finsbury Park. Please join us by either becoming a part of one of our REACH Teams and/or praying specifically for the communities and peoples who live along the Piccadilly Line and especially at Finsbury Park! We are excited and expectant of great things! Jeremy Thompson, Life Group and REACH Pastor

Special Needs & Disabilities Ministry Update Luke 14:12-14
From a special needs family... “For those of us on this journey, we sometimes feel in the midst of the storm— tossed around and often tattered, occasionally given a gift of reprieve in the eye of the storm, but most often we feel missed, overlooked, and honestly: sometimes dismissed. I often watch the darting eyes of others from Joey to us, and then off into nowhere - like they didn’t even see us. Rarely does someone seek us out. Some do; like some of you will look for me in the picture. Some others just don’t look – they don’t take the time or make the effort. Some don’t want to. Some can’t. Some don’t care. Some want to but don’t know that next step.” — Joe and Cindi Ferrini, Key Ministry Taylors FBC Special Needs and Disabilities Ministry Progress • Training for staff and volunteers by Emily McGowan at Grace Church in October. • Funds continue to be raised by Women’s Ministry and others for a sensory room. • Items identified and being purchased for the room. • New volunteers added to our team of “Buddies.” How you can help: • Continue to pray! • Volunteer to be trained and to serve as a buddy on Sunday, Wednesday, or special events. • Reach out to a family with a special needs child or loved one and get to know them. For information on serving, contact Ashley Cox at ashleyc@taylorsfbc.org or 864-292-4056. Learn more about Special Needs and Disabilities Ministry by visiting www.keyministry.org.
Disciple-making ministry is more than a program. It’s a way of life - one that’s shared with a handful of others as together you learn to follow a Person. That’s what DGroups are all about… introducing you to a way of life shaped by God’s Word, spirituallyaccountable relationships, and a vision for multiplication as you learn to invest your life in the lives of others. To learn more, join us for our next DGroup training and discover how your participation will help you grow as a disciple and equip you to become a disciple-maker of others. Sunday, January 7 3:30-5 pm in the Apex RSVP: Beth Caskey at bethc@taylorsfbc.org or 864-678-8815
Everybody SERVES We value equipping and mobilizing every person to use their spiritual gifts for the building up of the body of Christ. 1 Peter 4:10 We are looking for dedicated Life Group teachers and leaders for 2018. Please read the training process to the right and if you sense God calling you to be trained, please contact Beth Caskey at bethc@taylorsfbc.org.
Training to Become a Life Group Leader The Pipeline, our leadership training process, exists to train, affirm, and employ men and women to lead in a Life Group setting. Each participant is paired with an existing Life Group leader and is mentored for three to six months. During this time participants have the opportunity to study resources, meet with their mentor, observe multiple settings, take part in an existing Life Group, and have opportunities to teach alongside their mentor. At the end of the mentorship, the mentee is then affirmed in multiple areas before being deployed into a leadership role. Through this process, our hope is that men and women will feel encouraged, equipped, and ready to build up the body of Christ.

Bible Study Begins January 8 | Wednesdays at 9 am & Mondays at 7 pm
Esther by Beth Moore The Old Testament story of Esther is a profile in courage and contains many modern parallels for today's overloaded and stressed woman. Esther, while a queen, lived as an outsider in a hostile environment. Women will learn strong lessons of faith, providence, and hope to equip them to live courageously "for such a time as this." Join Beth in a very personal examination of this great story of threat and deliverance as she peels back the layers of history and shows how very contemporary and applicable the story of Esther is to our lives today. If you've ever felt inadequate, threatened, or pushed into situations that seemed overpowering, this is the Bible study for you. Just as it was tough being a woman in Esther's day, it's tough today. This portion of God's Word contains treasures to aid us in our hurried, harried, and pressured lives.

Grace Based Parenting Conference January 19-20, 2018
Grandparenting Workshop
Led by Dr. Tim Kimmel, Executive Director of Family Matters
Thursday, January 18 6:30 pm $10 per Person
Friday, 6:30-8:30 pm | Saturday, 9 am-12 pm Early Registration Open through January 3 | $25 per Person | Free Childcare It’s never too early to start raising truly great kids... and it’s never too late. Every parent wants to raise great kids, yet often we fall short of our dreams. Sometimes we’re just too busy and distracted. Some of us had less than ideal role models. Some of us are working at it, but we just don’t have a good game plan. Are you willing to invest just a few hours in order to empower your kids... forever? With God’s help and a plan, you can raise truly great kids. This conference is a grace-based, character-driven model to nurture confident and cooperative kids, and have a great time in the process. Make your kids the priority. Get a clear job description, practical tools, and an effective model to parent your kids the same way God parents His - with grace. This conference is for anyone who has an influence in the life of a child. The conference itself is fun and fast-paced. Topics covered include (but not limited to): • What it takes to raise kids in the midst of busy lives • Practical ways to take the fear out and put the fun back into parenting • Preparing your child’s heart to receive God’s plan • Turning heartache to hope with your rebellious child • How to bring out the best in your strong-willed child When it comes to parenting, the days are long... but the years are short. It is the biggest job you will ever do. Give it your best.
www.taylorsfbc.org/conference Register by January 3 to Receive Childcare “Kimmel offers biblical insights and principles to our hurried existence - help from the Word of God for the life being lived in the fast lane.”— Billy Graham "Few writers are as well equipped as Tim Kimmel to teach parents how to fan ames of youthful self-determination and at the same time avoid self-destruction." — Dr. Howard G. Hendricks "Aren't you glad you worship a God of grace? Tim Kimmel has done a great job of reminding us as parents that we are the model of God in our home and we need to be good grace-based parents." — Dr. Kevin Leman
Grandparenthood is far more than rocking chairs. It is a second chance to do all of the "ought tos" and "should haves" that the busyness and demands of daily parenthood kept you from doing. Grandparenthood allows you to play a key role in writing the history of a generation that you will some day leave in charge.
