FROM OUR PASTOR During the last few weeks of 2014 and over many hours together, it was meaningful for our ministers to reflect and think ahead about the spiritual health and direction of our church. From those discussions and times of prayer, three major themes came to the surface. I've revealed them in our sermon series, “Grace is Greater Than, and I briefly share them with you again so that they might resonate in our hearts collectively and in our practices in 2015. May this blueprint guide us in how we make decisions as a church body, together as families, and individually as we follow Jesus. But beyond decision making, may it drive us as we make, mature and multiply disciples in 2015.
We desire to make prayer the first step in all we do, as it invites into our planning and processes the very person and work of the Holy Spirit. It humbles us to become more dependent upon Him rather than ourselves. It gives us power for boldness, cleansing from sin, and direction for the steps ahead. Prayer reaches for the fruit that only God can produce both inside our hearts and outside in the lives of people. We desire to give our lives to others so that the work and grace of Jesus can take hold of them as it deepens in us. May we view our church as a living body of people growing together in God's grace and in need of sacrificial service and love from every member. Pouring into others means we fight the natural tendency to see our church lives as being satisfied when only our personal needs are met and our desires fulfilled. We desire to see the gospel of Jesus proclaimed in a fresh, bold and compassionate way in 2015. While it begins with praying for and engaging with the lost, it continues as the Holy Spirit leads us to opportunities to share the gospel in word and deed with those we come in contact with daily. Ultimately, we pray every member will become an instrument God uses to proclaim His love and grace to those who do not know Him.
I am praying the Father not only keeps these themes in the forefront of our thinking, but that He pours out His grace in our hearts to make them a reality in our practices. In 2015 may we all be "filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God" Philippians 1:11.
Paul Jimenez Pastor
And this is my prayer:
That your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. American Mission Board church planter outside Washington, D.C., and despite the bone chilling cold, the students served in amazing ways. They cleaned out the existing church building, painted and updated multiple classrooms, and handed out 1,000 postcards about the church throughout the community. Most impressive, they went door-to-door to over 750 homes to share a survey and the gospel. The students were amazingly bold and unselfish! "During the trip, Taylors College partnered with Pillar Woodlawn. Our time in DC was filled with painting, playing in the snow, organizing and building relationships with our church planter family and each other." Victoria Harrison, Sophomore "My first mission trip was a huge blessing and an eye-opening experience. I am so thankful for the Christ-centered friendships I developed and the seeds we were able to plant in the community. I cannot wait to go on another trip with Taylors College! Alyssa Ashe, Freshman Pray for the College students going on the REACH trip to Madrid, Spain, during Spring Break.
10th Anniversary Celebration Friday, March 13, 2015 7 pm Taylors Rec Center
REACH WMU Doll Ministry By Vanessa Tucker The Doll Ministry has hand-made nearly 11,000 dolls since its beginning and last year made 1200 dolls for Operation Christmas Child boxes. A small group of women from Taylors FBC started The Doll Ministry in March of 2010 after meeting with Susan Bishop from Berea First Baptist, the originator of the doll pattern. The Doll Ministry will have a double celebration in March, 2015. The oldest member, Dot Breazeale, will be 100 years old AND the group will celebrate five years of making and distributing dolls. These small hand-made dolls have made their way to the Dominican Republic, Africa, Brazil, China, Honduras, Haiti, Prague, Peru, Mexico, Spain, Canada, Nicaragua, Montana, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and the communities of Taylors, Greer and Greenville. Taylors FBC has used these dolls for Single Mom’s Oil change, and shared the pattern with other churches to assist in getting additional doll ministries started. Each doll is made with love by workers who range in age from 6-99! They say prayers throughout the process from the purchase of materials to attaching the “salvation beads” used by missionaries with a coloring book to tell children about Jesus’ love and salvation through His shed blood and forgiveness of sin. This year they received word that thirty people received Christ after servants from the Taylors area gave away dolls and helped to rebuild in the Mississippi Delta region. The Doll Ministry meets every Monday at the Taylors Rec Center 4-7 pm. For information contact Patricia Phillips at 864-630-1659.

Camp in the City: Knepp Family Experience Camp in the City was an awesome experience for all of our kids, even the one who is too old to go to camp! For our ten-yearold twins, it was their first camp experience. Neither of them care to spend the night away from home, so a camp where they could come home every night was perfect. At the time a foster child was living with us and CITC was his opportunity to see young adults living out their faith in Christ. The love and compassion shown to him was AMAZING! All of the counselors took extra time and effort to meet his needs and really show the unconditional love that Christ has for each of us. As a host home, we had the privilege of ministering to three camp counselors. We chose female counselors because our twins are girls and would be attending camp. They were mostly at our house to sleep, shower and eat breakfast, except for one night. That night they spent time with our family having dinner and playing games. On another night the whole family was able to go to a swimming party for the counselors and host families. It was at this party that our oldest, Zach, age seventeen, was impacted by the counselors. He is almost as old as some of the counselors and being able to interact with those young adults and seeing them proud of their Christianity and walk with Christ made quite an impact. In fact, Zach requested that we host male counselors next year so he has a little more time to interact with and learn from them!
July 27-31, 9 am-4 pm Taylors First Baptist Church For Children K5-5th Grade Camp in the City is a day-camp produced by Pine Cove Camps. This five day high-energy camp allows your camper to experience Jesus through Bible study, worship, laser tag, water slides, and so much more alongside college student counselors whose main goal is to show your child how much fun it is to follow Christ! Scholarships and payment plans are available. Deposit of $100 is due upon registration. Registration opens February 2 at 12:01 am at www.campiscoming.com. Cost: $250 Consider becoming a host home for the camp leaders. Contact brittanyp@taylorsfbc.org for questions about camp and host homes. 8 | TAYLORSFBC.ORG

This book reminds us that no matter how fierce the storm, God isn’t asking us to take shelter under a table while the light and power go out of His church. God has given us the gospel of Christ and the Holy Spirit’s resources so that we can bring His light to the world.

How can we communicate faith in an appealing way to future generations? Yancey explores how grace can bridge the gap between Christian faith and a world increasingly suspicious of it.
