REACHING THE UNREACHED IN 2020
WEEKLY AT
Taylors Sundays
Traditional Worship, 9 am Taylors Worship, 10:30 am Life Groups, 9 and 10:30 am Evening Worship, 6 pm
Jesus says in Acts 1:8, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.” Who’s your ONE? Who has God placed in your life that they may hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ from you? A friend? A family member? A coworker or classmate? Or possibly the person at the restaurant or gas station you frequent? In 2020 we will Reach the Unreached in our own communities together. We will identify our ONE. We will commit to praying for our ONE. We will encourage one another as we start conversations, build relationships, and share the gospel with our ONE! Our desire is to see God move! We desire to see God, through the power of the gospel, make many who were dead, alive. To see those who were far from God brought near. We desire to see lives transformed for the glory of God!

MISSION 1:27
As part of our community outreach through our Love Taylors Ministry, our Mission 1:27 group hosted the annual Christmas party for the Greenville County Foster Parents Association (GCFPA). GCFPA supports foster parents in achieving safety, permanence and well-being for children and youth in their care. Fun was had by the foster children and their families and we are thankful that God is able to use this ministry to make a difference to the least of these!
GREER CHRISTIAN LEARNING CENTER
Greer Christian Learning Center provides students from Greer and Blue Ridge Middle and High Schools an opportunity to embrace the Gospel, to grow in Christian maturity, and to apply biblical principles to their lives, families and communities. These students come from various churches in the Upstate. About one third of these students do not attend church at all. Greer Christian Learning Center has highly qualified staff members, teachers, and counselors. Classes are free for students, but the center depends on the financial support of faithful individuals and churches. They also rely on assistance from volunteers who operate our buses that transport students each day from their public school campus to the center. One of our own church family members, Louise Rogers, is on staff with Greer Christian Learning, as a H.E.L.P. Minister, a trained and highly qualified counselor. In her position, Louise is able to meet with students and give them the opportunity to meet one-on-one during their class time for hope, encouragement, the love of Christ, and prayer. Louise would share with you that she has a wonderful job and gets to talk to students every day individually, which allows her to build a level of trust with each student she counsels. This in turn allows Louise to ask students questions about Heaven and their relationship with Christ. Her goal is to help the students understand that God has a plan for their lives.

LIBRARY HIGHLIGHTS The Forgiving Jar
by Wanda Brunstetter Second in The Prayer Jar series. Secrets and deceit seem to follow Sara, and she is so tired of it. When she meets and falls for Brad Fuller, even he seems to pull away from her, not being totally honest. Struggling, Sara finds an old canning jar full of encouraging prayers hidden in the barn. Can Sara find a way to forgive the past and move on to building new relationships?
When You Are Near
by Tracie Peterson After her father’s death, Lizzy Brookstone, a trick rider in the all-female Brookstone Wild West Extravaganza, wants nothing more than to quit her role as the star of the show and live a quiet life on her family’s ranch. But returning home would bring Wesley DeShazer, the ranch’s foreman and the man who broke her heart, back into her life. In addition, the troupe’s new manager fears that Lizzy’s departure could doom the already cash-strapped show.
It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way by Lysa Terkeurst Life often looks so very different than we hoped or expected. Some events may simply catch us off guard for a moment, but others shatter us completely. We feel disappointed and disillusioned, and we quietly start to wonder about the reality of God’s goodness.

NEW PARTNERSHIP
Matt and Nora Vos The Oasis, Guatemala | Kid’s Alive International The Oasis is an integrated program for young girls being rescued out of sexual abuse or violence. It provides a safe place for them to heal from their trauma, seek justice against those who have hurt them, and hear about the transforming love of Jesus. The Oasis currently houses 65 girls ages 5-18, some of whom are young moms with their babies. The following was included in the Vos' latest newsletter: Rebecca*, age 13, was brought to Oasis in the middle of the school year. She was placed in the Oasis school, while her counselor, social worker, and the education specialist worked to determine her grade level, emotional health, and knowledge of basic life skills. Her first few days were quiet as she learned what Oasis was, but after being with us just a few days, Rebecca spiraled out of control. She hit, kicked, bit, cussed out, and mistreated everyone she encountered. She refused to stay in class and would often run out after physically fighting with someone else. We quickly realized that her trauma story would need time to unfold and as her heart and body were allowed a safe place to be, she slowly began to shed layers of pain, shame, and abuse. We learned that her physical reactions were a result of the way she had been treated before coming to us. She didn’t know how to receive correction without physical and extreme verbal punishment. She also had never formally attended school because she ran away constantly and wasn’t encouraged to stay and learn. It was easier on everyone to let her leave. She claimed she only believed in Satan and that her family had taught her to worship Satan, consume drugs, and engage in inappropriate relationships. With her constant disruptions, we had to remove her from class. Unlike many places, that was not the end of her story at Kids Alive Guatemala. Rather than giving up on her and transferring her, we hired a private teacher. She began to thrive in one-on-one tutoring, no longer ashamed that at 13 she could not read. After several months of adapting and learning what type of behavior is appropriate, being taught about Jesus’ love for her, and having one-on-one classes and gross motor skills training, Rebecca slowly began to change. As she began embracing her identity in Jesus, her behaviors completely changed. No longer were there constant behavioral explosions in class, in the house she lived in, or in Oasis in general. She developed sweet relationships with several of the adults she had mistreated before, and when talk of the most recent set of baptisms began, she was one of the first to ask if she could be baptized. She expressed understanding of who Jesus is and what his work on the cross has done for her, and particularly identified with one of our core values, that Jesus makes her clean. This month she was baptized, and as she came out of the water, tears were visible in the eyes of many watching, knowing just how powerful this declaration of faith was. Rebecca still has days when she forgets a piece of her new identity in Jesus, but she is much more receptive to correction. She loves to give hugs and uses her words to bless others rather than hurt them, more often than not. She’s learning what it means to be loved, chosen, forgiven, powerful, and clean, and the way she is living out her faith encourages the rest of us as well. This holiday season will look a little different for Rebecca, as it is her first Christmas in institutionalized care, but it also looks different because for the first time, Rebecca will be celebrating the coming of her Lord and Savior. Together we are reminded that Jesus’ coming makes us clean and gives us a new start.” *Name changed to protect identity.
We are excited to partner with Matt and Nora in order to see the lives of many girls like Rebecca radically changed by the gospel of Jesus!
