Dear Taylors Family, Earlier last month I shared my heart for 2016 over two Sunday mornings. Remember, the fire alarm sent us home early one Sunday – glad everyone was safe and you were able to get to lunch early! So as you look through the pages of this newsletter, what I’d like for you to do is to lay the specific opportunities, classes, events, and REACH trips over the foundation of those Sundays. In both our attitudes and actions, here’s what I pray develops in and through us this year: 1. Culture of Humility — may we come to worship on Sunday mornings and gathering times throughout the week with an expectancy that God will speak to us and we will be ready to respond to Him. How do we do that? We come recognizing our brokenness over our pride and sin along with our inability to help ourselves and then watch how God’s grace meets us when we encounter Him in Spirit and truth (John 4:23-24). 2. Communities of Connection — may we enter into relationships that call us to a deeper connection to Christ and His people. Throughout the many opportunities to gain more knowledge of God’s Word, may we realize that we grow and help others to grow when that knowledge is applied: be doers of the Word and not hearers only, James tells us (James 1:22). This means we find connections to Jesus and His people as the means of exercising our faith and what we say we believe. 3. Channels of Grace — may we recognize that people around us are lost and in great need of the gospel. Jesus’ Great Commission is like a two-sided coin: teach others everything I command you AND reach all people everywhere as you follow Me (Matt. 28:18-20). So let’s lift up our eyes as we gather and grow together to see those in the generations behind us and the lost in our neighborhoods and workplaces beyond us. We gather and grow in order to be channels of grace to those who are not connected to Christ. May the Lord bless you richly this year as we pursue Jesus and fulfill His mission together!
Paul Jimenez, Pastor
Easter Sunday March 27
As we gather to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, it’s a perfect time to invite someone who needs to hear the gospel, the “Good News!” Be praying now about inviting a neighbor, friend, or co-worker who needs to know the hope and peace found in a relationship with Christ.

Taylors Children’s Choirs | Wednesdays at 6:15 pm (Begins 2/17) High in the mountains in the impenetrable Agape Fortress, General Agape has called the mighty Agape League together to solve a crisis in Suburbiana City! Calling on the super-powered fruits of the spirit available to every follower of Christ, these heroes must also face an enemy within their own ranks when Ironblade forgets his superhero identity (self control) and becomes entangled in the pervasive worldly culture he encounters in Suburbiana City. Things get worse when they learn that unless each member continues to exhibit their gifts, the entire group faces the same fate! Will the League recover their powers? Will the citizens of Suburbiana City be saved? Will the source of true power – God’s Word – finally be utilized before time runs out?

Resolving Everyday Conflict
Word In Life
GriefShare
Everyday conflicts can build up walls and tear down relationships of all kinds. This study unpacks the amazing things the Bible has to say about conflict and relationships. You will find powerful and practical answers as you dig into each topic and then find beneficial solutions to confounding situations, whether with a neighbor, boss, family member or friend.
Learning from God’s Word in relationship with a small group of believers is powerful. God uses these times to grow us in godliness, unite us as the body, and direct us in accomplishing His mission among all peoples. Join us as we study Galatians.
If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. GriefShare provides a safe environment with a caring group of people to walk alongside you through the difficult experience of loss.

Red Kettle Report
Volunteers from our church rang the Salvation Army bell at Walmart in Taylors every day except Sundays from November 27-December 24, 2015. Our people saw over $12,000 placed into that one kettle during the ten hours served each day of the twenty-three days. We were happy, smiling, and singing while exclaiming "Merry Christmas," "Thank You," "God Bless You," and "Yes, we are Volunteers from Taylors First Baptist Church." More than 140 church members served and said these words over 60,000 times. Special thanks to our church family! — Dan Boling, Coordinator

We are grateful to the members of Taylors for partnering with us in outreach to the community through support of the Christmas Store. This store provided the opportunity for parents to buy gifts at a reduced cost. The student ministry adopted this project, donating gifts and helping set up the store and several Life Groups and men’s groups also provided special support. Thank you! We look forward to this partnership continuing.
Encounter Church
Your partnership in faith has allowed us to launch our first weekly service with over 200 people in attendance. Over 300 from our community have passed through the doors of Encounter Church. We are constantly hearing statements like “I have never experienced anything like this before” and “I had written off church until I came to Encounter.” God is at work in our community and the seed has just started to grow. Thank you for being part of what God is doing in our community.
The Restoration Chronicles:
Return to Me, Book 1 Keepers of the Covenant, Book 2 On This Foundation, Book 3 by Lynn Austin Bringing the Old Testament to vibrant life, this series tells the compelling story of Ezra and Nehemiah living by faith in the midst of doubt, the women who love them, and the faithful remnant struggling to rebuild their lives in obedience to the God.
Brides of Seattle Series:
Steadfast Heart, Refining Fire, Love Everlasting by Tracie Peterson See how these couples allow God to make something new and beautiful from the debris of their past.
Hoovey
This DVD is the true and inspiring story of the Elliott family as they rebuild their lives. Step by grueling step, with faith, love, and the tireless work of a mother and father, Hoovey learns to walk again and yes, to dream again.
When God Doesn’t Fix It
by Laura Story and Jennifer Schuchmann Worship leader and recording artist Laura Story’s life took an unexpected turn when her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Yes, with God all things are possible. But the devastating news was that no cure existed to restore his short-term memory, eyesight, and other complications. The fairy-tale life she had dreamed of was no longer possible. Yet in struggling with God, Laura found joy and deeper intimacy with Jesus.
War Room
This DVD is an inspiring and entertaining film from the award-winning creators of Fireproof and Courageous. While Tony Jordan basks in his professional success, his wife, Elizabeth, resigns herself to increasing bitterness of a failing marriage. But then she meets her newest client, Miss Clara, who challenges her to establish a “War Room” and develop a battle plan of prayer for her family.
Inside this Massachusetts ornament, a gift from Encounter Church, is a small seed with great potential. These tiny Giant Sequoia seeds are deceptive because the trees they grow into are the largest living organisms on planet Earth, thriving in harsh terrain with a life span of 3500 years. They can grow up to 280 feet tall! The seeds represent a living picture of what Christ said about the power of faith in His name… “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” Matthew 13:31-32

Showing the Love Of Christ
Practical Help Where Needed
by Jack Dorn The recent floodwaters in our state resulted in much devastation. As a Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Chaplain, I served for three weeks as team leader for South Carolina and Alabama chaplains working in Columbia. We had the opportunity to work alongside assessors, as well as chain saw and mud-out teams to comfort and pray with many of the victims. We also helped them with FEMA, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and our own SBC resources. I was encouraged by the support of local Columbia churches, individuals, and groups from North and South Carolina churches who often helped with mud-outs while our teams disinfected those houses. They also brought clothing, furniture, food, etc., and served meals to the victims and workers. New projects constantly surfaced as the waters receded. We also worked in shelters: at Trinity Baptist there were forty-eight beds for victims and homeless people. Eight chaplains ministered to them in shifts. It is humbling to see people turn to God for help at low points in their lives. Our team witnessed twelve salvations and six re-dedications, and I was able to assist a “lost” homeless young lady to enter Greenville's Miracle Hill six-month Renewal Program. It takes several weeks for the flood waters to travel to the sea. My last trip a few weeks later was to North Charleston with teams from South Carolina and Florida. There are lots of needs during disasters; many different teams are used to feed and support victims. For example, Mike and Patty Comer, Taylors FBC members, responded to man a shower/laundry unit in Sumter, South Carolina. Have you ever considered helping in the aftermath of a disaster? There will certainly be more disasters, and help is always needed. Consider joining our SC Disaster Relief teams. Contact our Missions office for more information at 864-244-3535.

One SBC Church for Every 43,000 People Despite the subfreezing temperatures and snow, thirty-two college students and leaders embarked on impacting Pittsburgh in January. They partnered with SEND NAMB leaders in surveying communities to discover if a church planter is needed. Their other work included homeless ministry and church revitalization. "During the mission trip, God taught me to rely on Him and to ‘jump into the fray’ rather than worry. I faced each day not really knowing where we would be or what we were doing, and through continuous prayer, God led me where He needed. I also witnessed true Christlike community with everyone involved and saw how God can powerfully impact others through everyday conversations.”
"I saw the need for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I saw hopelessness portrayed in the lives of those without houses as well as in the lives of those with houses. I saw what life looked like apart from the connections built by love within the church. But I was encouraged because I saw God working by planting servants who are focused on His glory. Continue to pray for the hearts of the lost to know Jesus.”
